When It Finally Snows in Manhattan Chapter 07

“Julian…”

She held her face in disbelief.

Other station staff gathered around to watch.

Julian towered over her, his eyes bloodshot.

“Yvonne Sinclair, you kidnapped Claire’s mother? Are you insane?!”

Everyone gasped.

Yvonne panicked. She couldn’t even speak smoothly. “I-I didn’t do anything. You really think I’d dare touch her mom? Please, you have to believe me.”

Before she even finished, Julian hurled the photo of the license plate at her.

“Look for yourself!”

“I got rid of that car. Who else could’ve tracked it down and bought it back but you? Yvonne… was five years ago an accident, or did you plan that too?”

She grabbed his arm desperately, tears streaming down her face. “Julian, please don’t let everyone find out. Didn’t you say that matter was behind us? Don’t bring it up again. I’ll get kicked out of the station…”

Hearing those selfish words, Julian shut his eyes in despair.

Back then, Yvonne had looked at him with that same pitiful expression, begging him to save her.

She’d sworn it wasn’t on purpose—she’d said she’d hydroplaned in the downpour and hit Claire’s mother.

But that downpour had been his artificial rain, paid for with his money.

So his heart had been full of self-blame.

The reason he’d been willing to save Yvonne was to ease his own guilt.

But now, the innocent girl he’d thought he knew had actually committed kidnapping.

She’d even blown up Claire’s mother.

Thinking of all this, Julian clenched his fists.

“I bought your lies once. Now you pay. You pay with your life.”

With that, he kicked her hard, sending her sprawling to the side.

Everyone around was stunned.

They’d all thought Yvonne was Julian’s most cherished mistress.

They’d even treated her as the future Donna.

They never imagined her end would be worse than all the other girls.

Yvonne scrambled up from the floor, disgracefully clinging to his leg.

“Julian, you were the one who loved me the most—you know that. Fresh out of college, dancing in your casino, and you pulled me out of that life.”

“Even when I had to disappear to Italy, you still sent people to watch over me. How could you just… throw that away?”

Yes, he really had treated Yvonne differently from the other girls.

But it all came down to one thing she’d said once. “Once I save up enough money here, I want to be on TV too. I want to be a host.”

Back then, she’d just been a showgirl, staring at the TV shows with such envy.

So he’d thought Yvonne was a girl with dreams.

Or maybe it was that her drive reminded him so much of Claire.

But now he could see she wasn’t nearly as innocent or kind as he’d believed.

With that thought, Julian looked down at her coldly. “Get the hell out of my city. I’m handing your name over to the police—everything. You killed Claire’s mother.”

He dropped those words and left without looking back.

Even as Yvonne wailed and pleaded behind him, he didn’t spare her a single glance.

Leaving the station, Julian got into his car.

His advisor in the passenger seat handed him something. “Don, this is the trophy they awarded to the missus.”

Julian took it hesitantly, but his heart ached fiercely.

Days ago, to punish Claire, he’d openly given the award slot to Yvonne.

He’d thought Claire would finally admit defeat and regret asking for a divorce.

But what he’d gotten in return wasn’t Claire’s coaxing—it was not knowing if she was even alive or dead.

Julian held the trophy in his hands, still able to picture Claire’s cheers and leaps whenever she got one.

He sagged against the car window and ordered his advisor, “Find Claire for me. I want her found—alive or dead.”
