When He Said I Was The Replacement, I Said Finally Chapter 02

I said nothing.

I blinked my eyes repeatedly, and finally squeezed out a few tears. Only then did I look up at him with a pathetic, delicate look.

Twisting my lips into a bitter smile, I said mournfully, “It’s okay. I’ve always known you don’t love me. All I ever wanted was to stay by your side for as long as possible. That’s enough for me.

“I’ve always been prepared for you to leave me. It just came so suddenly.” I sniffled, letting the emotion build up, my voice cracking as I spoke, “Since you’ve already made your decision, I wish you happiness.”

I didn’t get upset, I didn’t get angry, and I didn’t throw a fit. My reaction clearly caught Yves off guard, but it also successfully made him feel guilty and sorry for me.

He walked over to hug me and comfort me, but I stepped aside to avoid him.

“Since you’ve already made up your mind about what you want, then don’t get too close to me anymore. It’s not fair to that girl.”

Yves’ hand froze in mid-air, then slowly dropped down.

“I’m sorry to hurt you. I’ll transfer a sum of money to your account as compensation.”

Before I could say anything, he added urgently, “I know you don’t care about money, but this is the only thing I can give you.”

With my back turned to Yves, I couldn’t hide my smile.

But when I turned back to face him, I quickly put on a sad expression again.

I wiped the already dry tear streaks on my face, and let out a difficult, choked “okay”.

Then I picked up my bag, and walked out unsteadily, looking completely heartbroken.

The driver worked for Yves, so I had to keep acting in the car.

I covered my face with a tissue and kept sobbing. Even the driver felt bad for me and kept trying to comfort me.

“Ms. Collins, please don’t be too sad. Besides Ms. Laird, you’re the only woman who’s stayed by Mr. Stuart’s side for this long. That means you’re still different to him.”

I cried out in grief, “What good does that do?! As soon as that girl comes back, he’ll just throw me away without a second thought, won’t he?!”

The driver seemed embarrassed and said nothing more.

When I got home, I could finally let go of my suppressed emotions.

I fell back onto the bed, looked at the large sum of money that had just hit my account, and laughed louder and louder.
