Wed To The Mafia, Wedded To Revenge Chapter 05

Wed To The Mafia, Wedded To Revenge Chapter 05

I stopped walking and turned toward the sound.

Dorian Vane stood beneath a tree. He was Cassian’s cousin.

“I heard Cassian was in a car accident. Is he alright?”

I masked the emotions in my eyes and nodded gently.

“He will be fine. Just a few stitches.”

He was likely already discharged and back to work.

Dorian grinned playfully.

“So you came to the church to pray for him right after the accident?”

I pressed my lips together and offered a polite smile, choosing not to answer.

I arrived at the hospital as evening fell.

Leone and two uniformed police officers stood inside the private room.

The older officer looked surprised when he saw me.

I greeted him calmly and turned to Cassian.

“Officer Kane, have you determined the cause of the crash?”

Marcus Kane switched to his professional demeanor and shook his head.

“All evidence points to a standard traffic accident.”

I nodded. It was indeed ordinary.

The driver had died on the scene, leaving no witnesses. The car held no clues whatsoever.

Cassian’s vehicle had been heavily modified, which was the only reason he had escaped with nothing worse than an arm injury.

The whole scene felt hauntingly familiar. Exactly like Matteo’s case ten years ago.

Leone escorted the officers out while Cassian struggled to pull on his suit jacket with one hand.

I finally saw the long gash stretching nearly a foot along his left arm.

I stepped forward to help him get dressed.

“Why leave the hospital so soon?”

The wound was serious enough, but Cassian had an incredibly high tolerance for pain. I had always believed he could continue working even with a gunshot wound.

I was genuinely surprised he had stayed in the hospital all afternoon. Had he been waiting for someone?

Cassian stayed silent for a moment before changing the subject.

“Who do you think caused this accident?”

The answer was obvious. I lowered my gaze to hide the cold glint in my eyes and spoke his name slowly.

“Damian.”

I had stopped by the De Santis Group on my way to the hospital. A hidden camera inside my office had captured an intruder tampering with my computer.

Mira must have already handed over the fake Moreau Group bidding files to Damian.

Human nature was truly strange. I had taken Mira under my wing for five years after she first joined the company, yet she was nothing more than a spy planted by another faction.

Damian was truly a madman. The bidding competition would take place the next day. He had staged this accident to keep Cassian from attending.

He had likely hoped Cassian would lose his life entirely.

“You know Officer Kane well?” Cassian suddenly asked.

I was caught off guard and nodded after a brief pause.

“How did you two meet?”

My eyelashes fluttered. I did not answer and forced a small smile.

“Don’t worry. It wasn’t over a police report. No one in New York would dare cross that line with me.”

I never spoke of how I first met Marcus Kane.

I had stood in front of Matteo’s broken body all those years ago while the young officer saluted me.

He had told me Matteo was an outstanding detective, his finest protégé.

I had broken down crying that day, kneeling beside Matteo’s remains.

I swore an oath to make his killer pay, even if it meant marrying the most feared Don in New York.
