Watched Me Suffer and Called It Growth? Goodbye Forever to All Four of You! Chapter 08

The assistant worked fast.

Colin stared at the surveillance footage without blinking.

He started from the beginning.

The first day, Paige’s clean face was covered in mud. She crouched under a tree, tears falling one by one.

The second day she slept against a rock and got soaked by rain in the middle of the night.

Day three. Day four.

He kept watching. The food he’d ordered never appeared.

She’d been living like that the whole time. Starving.

Bleeding. Crying.

His throat closed. He had nothing left to say.

His face dark, Colin stormed into the hospital.

Tessa was still in bed, forcing out tears.

“Colin, we lost the baby….

But… if you stop talking about Paige, if you get rid of her, I promise I won’t press it. We can start over. We

can… we can have another one…”

“You still have the nerve?” Colin’s mouth twisted into something like a smile.

“The supplies you said you’d prepare for her?

You said the snakes and insects would scare her. I agreed. You said we shouldn’t bring her back too soon. I

went along.

And what happened? She didn’t even get enough to eat. She was covered in wounds.

Tessa, that was your idea of helping her?”

He kept going. Tessa’s face went white.

She opened her mouth to speak.

Colin laughed once. “I’m the real idiot…

And my Paige is never coming back.”

He turned and left, as if one more second of looking at her would make him sick.

Everything moved fast after that.

The next day Tessa was sent to the island.

She screamed in pure terror.

“No! I don’t want to be here!

Colin, I’m your wife. You can’t do this!

Let me out. I don’t want to stay in this hellhole.”

She stared at the barren land around her. Somewhere in the distance, an animal roared.

She swallowed again and again, praying she could leave right now.

This time Colin didn’t soften.

He watched the feed, his voice flat.

“You thought suffering builds character. So experience it yourself.

Whatever my Paige lived through here, you’ll live through the same.

Enjoy it, Tessa.”

He didn’t hesitate.

He started the livestream the same way he had with me.

Spencer and Garrett were harsher this time.

This time, the things they dropped weren’t harmless. Spencer and Garrett made noise on purpose, so Tessa

had nowhere to hide.

In two weeks her body was covered in cuts and blood.

Nothing of the polished girl remained.

Another week later the news came that she was dead.

Colin and the others didn’t seem surprised.

He just stayed with me.

“Paige, Tessa’s dead.

I got revenge for you. Does that make you happy?”

He pulled out his pack of cigarettes and lit one after another.

After a long silence, his voice came out rough.

“Do you hate me so much you never come into my dreams?

You can curse me. Hit me. I don’t care.

Just don’t ignore me.”

He tipped his head back. Two tears slid down his cheeks.

“I’m so tired.

I miss you.

It hurts.”

He looked down.

I was still lying quietly in the room, but my body had already started to rot. Fluid seeped from it.

He didn’t dare wipe it. Didn’t dare touch it.

He only knew one thing.

This time, it really seemed like he couldn’t keep her.

He slumped against the headboard in a daze. The moon rose from the horizon.

Pale light crossed the window.

Near dawn, he seemed to sense something. He suddenly looked up at the place where I floated.

“Paige… you’ve been here the whole time, haven’t you?”
