Unreturned When the Fog Cleared Chapter 10: Fake Wedding

As the wedding march began to play, Julian Rhodes stood at the end of the red carpet, watching Sylvia Chevalier walk toward him in her white gown.

But his gaze was unfocused, and the image of his wedding with Thera Sutherland gradually appeared before his eyes.

Back then, Thera had worn a simple satin wedding dress and carried a bouquet of white roses. Her steps were a little timid as she approached him, but she never stopped smiling, her eyes sparkling as if they held the

stars.

He remembered that when she reached him, she had whispered, “Julian Rhodes, I look forward to our future together.” Her voice was so soft and sweet that he couldn’t help but squeeze her hand.

Sylvia Chevalier reached his side. “Julian, do I look beautiful today?”

Julian Rhodes snapped back to reality. He tugged at the corner of his mouth but said nothing.

‘A strange emptiness washed over his heart, as if something were missing.”

After the wedding ceremony, only Julian Rhodes and Sylvia Chevalier were left in the dressing room.

Sylvia was in front of the mirror, taking off her veil.

Julian watched the sweet smile on her face, feeling a wave of irritation.

“Sylvia, this wedding today was all for Yara.”

He paused, his tone firm. “Thera and I will be getting remarried soon.”

The smile on Sylvia’s face froze instantly. A fierce, ruthless glint flashed in her eyes, but she quickly reverted to her gentle demeanor.

Her voice carried a barely perceptible trace of grievance. “I understand, Julian. I’ve always known that you’ve only ever had Thera in your heart… I just… I’m just a little sad to let go.”

“But I won’t cause you any trouble, and I certainly won’t make Yara worry.”

Seeing her so obedient and understanding, Julian’s expression softened slightly. “Yesterday… I was too impulsive.”

Sylvia shook her head, her voice trembling slightly. “I did it willingly.”

“Once Yara is doing a little better, I’ll move out so I won’t be in your way.”

Julian’s tense brow relaxed a little. “It’s good that you can think that way. This must have been hard on you.”

Sylvia lowered her head, hiding the resentment in her eyes, and replied softly, “It’s no trouble at all. As long as I can help you and Yara, I’m willing to do anything.”

As they were preparing to head back in the evening, Yara Rhodes suddenly grabbed Julian Rhodes’s arm, her eyes sparkling. “Julian! You two are married now, how can you not go on a honeymoon?”

“I’ve been too busy lately. There’s no time.”

“Even if you don’t go on a long trip, today is your wedding night! Let’s go to the hot springs to celebrate!”

The image of Thera’s red–rimmed eyes from that morning flashed through Julian’s mind, and his heart clenched.

His tone was somewhat dismissive. “Let’s go in a few days.”

“No way!” Yara whined, shaking his arm. “You haven’t had a proper rest lately. Just think of it as keeping me company for a little while, okay?”

Pestered by Yara until he had no other choice, he finally relented.

Once they arrived at The Springs Resort, Yara excitedly flipped through the wedding photos, chattering nonstop. “Today’s cake was so delicious, and Sylvia’s wedding dress was gorgeous!”

Sylvia Chevalier sat to the side, smiling. “Yara was very beautiful today,

too.”

Later, Sylvia got up to go to the restroom, leaving only Julian and Yara by the side of the pool.

Julian’s tone gradually grew serious. “Yara, the wedding was held just as you wanted. From now on, stop making things difficult for Thera on purpose.”

Yara Rhodes pouted and said nothing.

Julian sighed and continued, “I spoke with your attending physician today. He said your mood and sleep have both been very stable lately, and you’re recovering well. Don’t just stay cooped up at home all the time. Go out more with people your own age–go shopping, see a movie, do things you enjoy. It’ll be good for you.”

“I know, I know!” Yara replied impatiently. “I really don’t know what kind of love potion Thera has given you.”
