Two Years of Marriage, I Never Got My Wedding Ring Chapter 27

The woman who owned the convenience store poked her head out, stared at him for a long moment, then ducked back inside to gossip with the cashier.

I got dressed and went downstairs.

When Alessio saw me, he handed me the breakfast first.

“You usually get coffee from this place. No sugar.”

I took it but didn’t drink.

“Did you check my credit card statements?”

He stiffened.

“No. The owner told me.”

I followed his gaze.

The shop owner gave me a wink and mouthed an exaggerated word.

“Handsome.”

I had to fight to keep a straight face.

Alessio saw it, too, and the tips of his ears turned red.

This was a scene I could never have imagined.

Alessio Ricci, standing at the entrance of a Brooklyn convenience store, holding coffee and a bagel, being sized up by the shop owner as my new boyfriend.

He opened the ring box.

“The engraving is Sofia’s initials.”

He spoke slowly, as if the words were caught in his throat.

“The jewelry store confirmed it. The ring the Ricci family originally commissioned was supposed to have your initials.”

“A week before the wedding, Sofia used the family’s authorization to pick up the ring and had the engraving changed.”

I looked at the ring.

It was beautiful.

It was expensive.

And it was a complete stranger to me.

“And now you’re planning to give it to me?”

Alessio’s hand froze.

I placed the coffee on the stone ledge beside me.

“Alessio, do you really think I would want to wear that?”
