Twenty-four Hours Later, My Don Regreted Chapter 05

I kicked off my second shoe and charged straight at him.

Luca didn’t hit me back-he was just clinging to whatever shred of dignity he had left.

The sharp heels sliced open the back of his hands as I lashed out at him

He curled his elbows over his head, screaming in rage. “Elena, stop this! Have you lost your mind?

I let out a cold, bitter laugh, standing barefoot as I kicked him hard across the jaw. “I’ve lost it, all right! Hit

me back, and I’ll drag you down with me.”

Every word dripped with unbridled hatred.

I’d only thought Luca was just a cheater when I posted that tweet last night.

After my friends dug up the full truth, I learned far worse.

He’d kept Chiara hidden for all seven years of our relationship, raising their secret child together.

Monday through Friday, he lived like a husband and father with her.

Every weekend, he came to me to play the perfect boyfriend.

His parents knew everything the whole time, and turned a blind eye to the boy’s existence.

What did he take me for?

A pretty mask for his family’s reputation?

Did he think the Collins name and our family honor meant nothing?

He humiliated me beyond repair, and I wasn’t going to let him get away with it.

My kick split his nose open, blood pouring down his chin.

His fake composure shattered completely. He cupped his bleeding nose and lunged forward to strike me.

His fist was inches from my cheek when the priest stepped between us and shoved Luca hard.

“I’ve presided over hundreds of weddings in fifteen years, and I’ve never met a man as shameless as you! Fraudulent marriage, an illegitimate child, and now you dare raise a hand to a woman?”

He reared back to punch Luca a second time, and I grabbed his arm to hold him back. I didn’t want the priest dragged into legal trouble.

I grabbed a heavy brass candlestick and charged Luca, swinging it at him like I was chasing off a stray dog.

I put every ounce of my strength into each blow, tears streaming down my face the whole time.

The deeper my love had been for him once, the fiercer my hatred burned now.

I hated him so fiercely I could’ve grabbed a knife and ended him right there.

Luca’s mother sprinted forward to defend her son the second she saw him getting beaten.

I lifted my hand and slapped her hard across the face before she could reach me.

“You think you’re some untouchable mafia queen, picking out wives for your son? I’ll knock that delusion

right out of you!”

The blow split her lip, blood welling at the corner of her mouth.

The second he spotted his bleeding mother, Luca snapped completely. He let out a feral roar and charged at

me all over again.

My father bolted up from the pews before he could touch me, driving a brutal kick into Luca’s spine.

“You think I’m just going to sit by and watch you hurt my daughter? Have you any idea how powerful the Collins family truly is?”

He kicked Luca square in the face once more. The full-scale brawl erupted after that.

When Carter family members stood to rush Luca and his mother’s defense, every Collins pulled baseball bats stashed under their pews.

They charged the Carter side all at once. If they struck first, we were only fighting back-no felony assault charges to stick.

The full-scale war I’d spent weeks planning finally ignited.
