To Hire A Billionaire As My Sugar Baby With Only $0.99 In My Pocket Chapter 07

Actually, where Graham went had nothing to do with me.

If it weren’t for the System forcing us together through its missions, our lives probably never would’ve crossed at all.

But hearing him ask like that… it was like a gentle scratch on my heart.

So I stifled my laughter and answered softly, “No. You can’t go.”

Graham seemed about to say something else, but I cut him off first.

“Come over instead. I want to eat something you cook.”

He was still laughing quietly. “Is this another System mission too?”

I was smiling too. “Take a guess.”

Graham came over fast. Barely half an hour later, he was at my door.

I let him inside.

He shrugged off his coat, hung it neatly on the rack, rolled up his sleeves, and headed straight into the kitchen without missing a beat.

I leaned against the doorframe, quietly watching him work.

He moved with practiced ease.

Rinsing foods, cutting vegetables—everything flowed naturally under his hands.

At the same time, he somehow kept the kitchen spotless while cooking.

The longer I watched, the more amazed I became.

So I finally asked, “I figured you were the kind of rich young guy who’d never lifted a finger in the kitchen. Didn’t expect you to be so… down-to-earth.”

Graham smiled faintly. “I used to take care of my mother a lot back then, so I got used to it.”

That reminded me of his family situation, and I let it drop.

Less than half an hour later, dinner was ready. Everything smelled amazing.

I took a bite and sincerely praised him.

“This is amazing. Seriously, you could pass for a professional chef.”

The corners of Graham’s lips lifted slightly, but he didn’t say anything.

Instead, the System suddenly spoke up, “Thank you both for your cooperation.”

“The main plot’s now complete. You’re free to do as you wish from here on out.”

I stared in shock. “Wait, that’s the ending? Graham hasn’t even become the bad guy yet.”

The System answered awkwardly. “I’m only responsible for the early plot.”

“Whether it falls apart after that is none of my business. My mission’s done, so I’m out.”

I was at a loss for words.

Before I could say anything else, the System made a cheerful notification sound.

“Mission complete. Preparing for departure.”

“Thank you both for your cooperation. Wishing you both smooth sailing ahead!”

And just like that, it vanished. Silence filled the room.

It took me a long moment to process what had just happened.

“It… it actually just left??”

Without that damn System around, I suddenly felt weirdly… off.

I looked at Graham sitting across from me and spoke, “M-Mr. Whitmore…”

Catching the sudden formality, Graham looked up from his meal and leveled a cool gaze at me.

I said awkwardly, “Sorry for all the trouble these past few days. I sincerely apologize if I crossed any lines.”

Graham said nothing. His gaze remained fixed on me.

And since he wasn’t talking, I didn’t dare say a word.

The two of us stared at each other awkwardly for a long time.

Then Graham suddenly lowered his head and laughed softly. His voice was cool and clear, yet still gentle.

“Eager to distance yourself from me, aren’t you?”

I felt embarrassed and went on, “Mostly because I’m dirt poor.”

“I seriously can’t afford to keep you. Stick with me and all you’ll get is more suffering.”

Graham suddenly laughed again. The smile left me completely flustered.

He propped his chin on one hand, a small smile playing at his lips.

“Why can’t I be the one taking care of you?”

I mean, it wasn’t the worst idea…

But my mom always used to say, “No one in this world is reliable. The only person you can truly depend on is yourself.”

So there was no way I could ever swallow my pride and depend on someone else, just for a taste of comfort and luxury.

Still, facing Graham’s absurdly beautiful face, I just couldn’t bring myself to say no.

So I awkwardly muttered, “No… I feel safer relying on myself. I can’t let someone else support me…”

Graham didn’t respond. He lowered his head and took a sip of soup.

I also lowered my head toward my plate.

But just as my lips touched the rim, I heard his quiet voice.

“I’m pretty low-maintenance.”

“Huh?” I looked up, sure I’d misheard. Only to find myself caught right in those smiling eyes.

His gaze was filled with warmth, almost like he was genuinely negotiating with me.

“I don’t eat much. Just a little here and there, and I’m happy.”

I thought he was joking, so I just laughed it off.

But Graham didn’t let up. “Think about it?”

He leaned closer and closer. That devastatingly handsome face suddenly made my mind go blank.

Flustered, I averted my gaze.

“Fine. I guess I can reluctantly keep you around a little longer.”

Graham looked deeply satisfied. His mood visibly improved.

He placed a piece of honey glazed pork belly into my plate.

“Eat up. You’ll need energy if you’re going to keep supporting me.”

Outside, the streetlights had flickered on. Warm amber light filtered through the tiny window, landing softly on his shoulders.

It made him look almost unreal. Like a painting. Like an angel who had wandered into the mortal world by mistake.

The most powerful man in Crestwood was sitting on a tiny stool by the table.

Somehow, two hundred bucks had been enough to keep him around.

He rested his chin in his hand and waited for me to finish eating so he could wash the dishes.

Suddenly, this plotline didn’t seem so bad after all.

Maybe things continuing on like this wouldn’t be so bad.
