I looked at him.

Gideon said, “Proof they knew you and Dax hadn’t broken up. And they coordinated to slander you

anyway.”

I dropped my eyes.

Dax’s tablet. The voting group chat.

I’d grabbed screenshots that night. But I hadn’t gotten all the chat logs exported before everything

went to hell.

Tess spoke up quietly. “Sable. I have them.”

I stared at her.

She pulled a USB drive from her bag.

“The day of your accident. I went to the office to grab your files. Your cloud had auto-synced a

bunch of screenshot files.”

“I backed them up. Just in case.’

“Voting group. Wedding video. The messages about arranging a job for you at Dax’s company. It’s all there.”

Her voice got quieter. Her eyes got brighter.

“Plus security footage from the apartment complex. Moving day.”

“Willa grabbing your tin box. Bree stomping on the photos. Your boyfriend telling you to post that/ statement. All of it.”

My fingertip touched the USB.

Smail thing. Burned against my palm.

Voices rose outside the room.

My body went rigid. The heart monitor spiked.

Gideon moved to block the door.
