They Stole My Wedding to Save Her, Not Knowing They Were Sacrificing Me to the Mountain God Chapter 02

They Stole My Wedding to Save Her, Not Knowing They Were Sacrificing Me to the Mountain God Chapter 02

The wedding car had already circled the city once, and Sienna livestreaming every second of it on her phone.

She was a small-time influencer with a decent following.

Watching the screen flood with congratulations made my heart ache as if it were actively bleeding.

[ Sienna and her man look so good together. They’re perfect. ]

[ Wishing Sienna forever happiness. ]

TikTok Live gifts flashed across the screen one after another while Sienna beamed at the camera.

“Thank you for the gifts, everyone. We’re going to be so happy.”

The feed abruptly cut out, replaced by an incoming call.

It was Evelyn.

I answered.

Her voice was filled with obvious displeasure.

“Look at Sienna’s followers. Complete strangers are throwing money at her, and you, her own family, haven’t given her a penny.”

“I know you just got that four-thousand-dollar performance bonus. Transfer it to her right now as a wedding gift.”

“After all, she’s only stepping up to save your skin.”

For the first time, I refused her.

“You said it yourself. She’s the stand-in bride. Since when does the real bride have to send the stand-in a wedding gift?”

Then I hung up.

For years, Evelyn had used wedding gifts as an excuse to bleed me dry me.

At the first wedding, when Sienna broke her ankle, Evelyn said I had brought bad luck on her and forced me to hand over the savings I had set aside for my future.

At the second wedding, she said Sienna’s reckless skydiving stunt on a bad influence, so I had to pay for Sienna to travel more and “see the world.”

That time, she drained every last dollar I had saved.

As long as Sienna wanted something, they would find a way to make me buy it for her.

At my age, the only money I had left was the $4,000 bonus that had landed in my account a few days ago.

And even that, Evelyn refused to let me keep.

This time, I would not give them anything else.

I took out a small suitcase and packed light, just some clothes, my passport, and essential legal documents.

Raucous laughter echoed from outside the door.

The wedding party was back.

They had reached the game portion of the reception, where everyone was supposed to search the rented wedding estate for gifts hidden by the bride and her bridesmaids.

“Whoever helps me find the gifts Sienna hid gets a cash prize,” Callum announced.

Callum’s groomsmen scattered like starving wolves.

The bridesmaids laughed and dodged their hands, then sent them upstairs to keep searching.

My bedroom door was slammed open.

“Elara, did you help Sienna hide some of the gifts?”

“Hurry up and hand them over. We’re waiting for Callum to pay up.”

I frowned and tried to drive them out.

“There’s nothing in here that you’re looking for.”

“Go search somewhere else.”

They seemed to have exchanged a knowing look.

With ugly grins on their faces, they closed in on me.

“Whether you hid anything or not isn’t up to you,” one of them said. “We’ll have to check for ourselves.”

I was shoved down onto the bed.

My wrists were pinned above my head, and a man’s hand slid over my waist and stomach, groping up and down.

“Doesn’t look like she hid anything around her waist,” he said with a laugh. “Damn, she’s soft. You guys should feel this.”

I thrashed wildly, my hair spilling across the bed.

“I said I didn’t hide anything. They locked me in this room the whole time. I haven’t touched a thing.”

Their smiles turned filthy.

“We’ll be the judge of that. We’ll know after we check.”

At that point, it was clear this wasn’t a wedding prank anymore.

“Someone help me. Please, somebody…”

I screamed for help.

Outside the door, I heard Sienna and my parents.

Sienna paused, sounding faintly uncertain, “Elara is calling for help. Should we go check on her?”

She had barely started toward me before Evelyn stopped her.

“Leave her alone. Wedding pranks happen all the time.”

“She refused to send you a wedding gift, so let them mess with her a little. Consider it saving her some money.”

Callum glanced at my half-open door and helped Evelyn excuse it.

“My boys know when to stop. They’re probably just messing with her.”

“Let’s keep looking for the gifts. Don’t worry about her.”

Their footsteps slowly moved away.

The men, who had been holding back at first, became even more reckless.

One of them tried to reach under my torn top.

I turned my head and bit down hard on his arm.

He raised his hand and slapped me across the face.

“Your man doesn’t even want you anymore. Who are you pretending to be pure for?”
