They Locked Me In a Tower. All To Please Her Chapter 06

They Locked Me In a Tower. All To Please Her Chapter 06

That sentence hit Knox like a blow to the chest.

Something dull and heavy carved through him.

He snapped back. Clenched his fists.

“Split up. Follow the direction the cameras last caught her.”

“Ask along the way. Find Mila!”

They scattered. Went shop to shop. Street vendor to street vendor.

Mila-dragging a broken leg, covered in blood-should have stood out.

But no one on the entire street had seen her.

The sky darkened. Still nothing.

They went to the police station.

The officer listened. Then, by the book,

“We’ll look into it. You try searching on your own for now.”

They walked out. The night wind was cold.

Knox kept texting Mila. Calling.

Messages sent. No reply.

Calls made. Voicemail. Over and over.

The city went dark. Everyone was exhausted.

The apartment was ash. They checked into a hotel.

The moment they stepped into the room-laughter.

Ella, face mask on, lounging on the couch. Phone propped up. Screen playing a video.

Her earphones were pulled out. The audio filled the room.

Mila’s breakdown footage. From the high-altitude platform.

Ella watched, shoulders shaking, laughing.

“Haha… this clip. I could watch it a hundred times.”

The air froze.

Dorian stopped. His eyes went red.

“What are you doing.”

Ella jumped. Fumbled to turn it off.

Her finger hit the cast button instead.

The hotel wall screen lit up.

The glass bridge footage. Mila, legs shaking. Face pale. Frozen on the glass.

Her voice, soft. Trembling.

“Just a little more. For my family. For Knox. I need to be brave.”

Terror in every limb. Tears in her eyes. Still moving forward.

The room went silent. Only the projector hummed.

Knox stood. Eyes locked on the screen.

Before, he’d only seen her crying. Breaking down. Ugly.

Now, for the first time-he saw it. She was terrified. Suffering.

And still thinking of him. Calling those sick “training sessions” the price of their future.

His chest seized. Regret drowned him.

His throat moved. Eyes red.

“Mila… I’m sorry. Come back. Please.”

Dorian stepped forward. Hit the remote. Screen went black.

He turned to Ella. Voice low.

“Mila’s missing. Might be dead.”

“And you’re here watching her humiliate herself for fun?”

Ella yanked off her face mask. Voice cracked,

“I-I didn’t mean to. I’m worried too. I asked all my friends-”

“But my depression isn’t better yet. I can’t leave the house.”

Daisy snorted.

“Can’t leave the house? Last night. Your birthday.”

“You drank, cut cake, had the time of your life. Not a single symptom.”

The lie collapsed.

Ella’s face went white. She looked at Knox.

He didn’t shield her.

His face was ice.

“Your depression’s been cured for a while.”

“Go home. Your own home. Don’t come back with us.”

The words hit Ella like cold water.

All the favor. The comfort. The indulgence. Gone.

Ella’s hands curled at her sides. Nails dug into her palms. Hatred burned under her skin. She’d worked so hard to pull every eye onto herself. To enjoy their protection.

And Mila-just by disappearing-took it all back.

Ella lowered her head. Hid the venom in her eyes.

MILA. YOU’D BETTER DIE OUT THERE!
