They Fired the Pregnant Chef, Then Chaos Hit the Hotel Chapter 03

I stopped and looked down at the cart.

Three full boxes sat there. Every one of them held my personal belongings.

Before I could speak, the kitchen manager rushed over in full view of everyone.

“Olivia, open your boxes. I need to inspect them.”

I stepped in front of the boxes.

“You don’t have the authority to search my personal belongings.”

I was speaking to the kitchen manager, but my eyes stayed on Sophia.

The kitchen manager had stopped me only after Sophia whispered to her. I had packed my things under the kitchen manager’s own eyes.

Sophia stroked her lower belly and met my gaze calmly.

The kitchen manager had already shoved me aside and overturned my boxes.

“You can’t take these guest-appreciation banners. They belong to the banquet kitchen, not to you.”

I pointed to the words on the banners.

“They belong to the banquet kitchen? My name is written on them.”

“Still no.”

The kitchen manager tossed the banners aside.

“You can’t take this SOP manual or these training notes either. They are confidential kitchen materials.”

“The preserved flowers from the guest stay here too. They were given to you because of the hotel.”

By the end, the kitchen manager even took my half-used menu notebook and my black pen.

“These belong to the banquet kitchen too. Don’t make me report you for taking kitchen materials, Olivia.”

I looked at the mess on the floor.

I had no doubt that after I left, these things would be thrown into the trash.

The kitchen manager did not value any of it. She only wanted to humiliate me.

In ten seconds, she had turned eight years of my work into trash on the floor.

But I did not argue.

I did not even move.

“Look more carefully,” I said. “Make sure you don’t miss anything.”

I even smiled a little.

The kitchen manager had not expected that reaction. For a moment, she froze.

At that exact moment, Sophia stepped forward.

“Manager, I know I shouldn’t interfere in banquet kitchen matters, but we all work for the same hotel, so I’ll just say it.”

“The chef’s coat Olivia is wearing was issued by your kitchen, right? I don’t know whether she can still use it after this.”

The entire kitchen went quiet.

I looked at Sophia.

Her expression was innocent. Her eyes were not.

The kitchen manager reacted at once and pointed at my nose.

“Chef Sophia is right. Olivia, take off the chef’s coat. It belongs to the banquet kitchen.”

When I did not move, the kitchen manager even reached out to grab me.

I stepped back twice.

Then I slowly took off the white chef’s coat and draped it over the back of a chair.

“Good.”

“You have all done very well. I’ll remember this.”

After that, I pulled my nearly empty boxes and walked out.

As soon as I turned the corner, footsteps hurried after me.

“Olivia, wait.”

It was Sophia.

She hurried over. The polite act she had put on in front of everyone was gone.

She frowned at me.

“Olivia, who told you to go to the general manager and run your mouth?”

“Who told you to make this such a big deal?”

“Do you know what people are saying about me all over this hotel? They’re saying I used my uncle’s connections to push you into Procurement.”

“Oh.”

I almost laughed.

So that was why Sophia had gone after me today.

“Isn’t that the truth, Sophia?”

Sophia did not get the apology she had been waiting for. Her face flushed red.

“I don’t get it, Olivia. You have no backing at all. Where do you get the nerve to act this bold?”

I did not answer her again.

I turned away.

Sophia thought she had won this silent war. She thought she had won the right to keep both her baby and her position.

The kitchen manager thought she had won Martin Walker’s favor and could step on me, a veteran of the banquet kitchen.

They were wrong.

I did not care.

I had no interest in fighting them over status.

I was only waiting for the real show to begin.

Because in a few days, the hotel would host a very important banquet.
