They Erased Me, So I Rewrote My Life Chapter 10

Ethan found me at a café near the school.

He looked more haggard than I’d ever seen him. There were dark circles under his eyes, and the ridiculously expensive cashmere sweater he wore did nothing to make him look relaxed.

“Eliza.” He sat across from me, his voice low.

I didn’t look up. I just kept stirring the black coffee in my cup.

“Are you still angry with us?” he asked.

His tone was the one he’d use to soothe a misbehaving child.

“No.”

“Then why are you hanging around with some farm boy?” He frowned. “Do you know what people are saying about the family?”

“I don’t care.”

“What?”

I looked up at him.

“I don’t care because I no longer feel anything for the Walton name.”

Ethan’s face went white.

“You can’t be like this, Eliza. We’re twins. We—”

“Father’s approval rating dropped two points because of my transfer, didn’t it?”

He froze.

“Stop using the word ‘family’ to pressure me, Ethan.” I set the coffee spoon back on its saucer. “And stop framing my choices as attacks on the Walton family. I’m not buying that script anymore.”

“I’m not—”

“Let me guess.”
