One day. I lounged on a rocking chair in Silverpine Pack’s courtyard.

Kieran sat beside me, picking sweet, juicy blackberries for me.

He suddenly looked up. his ears turning pink. He opened and closed his mouth but didn’t say a word.

I pretended not to notice.

I’d been with him long enough to know exactly what he wanted to say.

After a minute, Kieran finally worked up the courage.

“Willow, I feel the Moon Goddess’s blessing. Will you be my Luna?”

He spoke so fast he closed his eyes right after, like waiting for a judgment. He looked adorable.

I smiled and ruffled his hair.

I leaned down and looked into his honest wolf eyes.

“Okay.”

“I’ll be your Luna.”

He almost jumped out of his seat, laughing and spinning around me.

He played, and I laughed.

Without the blood that had protected others for so long. I was just a normal girl.

Besides, from the moment my blood entered Kieran’s body, we’d had an unbreakable bond.

Two years later, Kieran Rowan and I had our bonding ceremony.

I’d wanted it small and simple, but Silverpine Pack threw a huge celebration.

It was far grander than Vanessa and Adrian’s wedding years ago.

In the corner of the ballroom, Carter stared at everything with a dark, bitter face.

He quickly pulled out his phone and told the whole family what he saw.

Before long, everyone from Blackthorn Pack showed up.

But they didn’t cause the dramatic scene I expected.

As soon as they reached the hotel doors. Silverpine Pack warriors stopped them.

Dozens of tall, strong warriors stared them down like they were trespassing criminals.

Their shouts and curses were drowned out by the laughter and blessings inside the hall.

I’d noticed Carter long before.

A wedding was supposed to be the happiest day of a woman’s life.

I wouldn’t let anyone ruin it.

I also knew Blackthorn Pack would never leave me alone once they learned I was alive.

A month later, I went to see them on my own.

They were no longer the proud Alpha family. They were just broken Omegas struggling to survive.

All their pride and wealth were gone.

Five of them squeezed into a tiny apartment under five hundred square feet. The place was messy, and the air smelled of

rot.

Cedric’s eyes filled with tears the second he saw me.

“Willow, Daddy was wrong. Forgive me. I’ll love you twice as much from now on.”

Lydia jumped in right after.

“Willow, Mom knows she messed up. It was all my fault. Come home with us…”

Vanessa hurried forward.

“Willow, it was all my mistake. I shouldn’t have taken Adrian from you. We’re divorced now. Forgive me, please, we’re

family.”

Celeste spoke with red eyes.

“Willow, I was wrong before…”

Even Carter hung his head.

“Willow, I shouldn’t have treated you that way or stolen your things. Give me a chance I’ll make it up to you”

Before I could speak, Kieran stood beside me and whispered.

“Luna… maybe… we should help them.”

The five of them lit up with hope and begged me nonstop.

I touched Kieran’s cheek softly.

“Baby, wait outside for me.”

The main reason I loved Kieran, besides how kind he was, was that he always obeyed me.

That was more than enough for me.

When he left. I looked back at the people who once called themselves my family. I felt no pity at all.

I knew them too well.

If I softened even a little, they’d attack like hyenas smelling blood and suck me dry.

“Don’t get the wrong idea.”

“I didn’t come here to forgive you.”

“I came to tell you to your faces–you don’t deserve it.”

Lydia paled.

“Willow, Mom really is sorry. We’re still family.”

I laughed coldly.

“Family?”

“When did you ever treat me like family?”

‘Don’t forget who called me a servant’s kid. Who locked me in Old North Manor to freeze to death. Who forced me to give up my family name.”

“And now you want me to forgive you?”

“In your dreams.”

I breathed out deeply. ‘

All the anger I’d carried for years finally poured out.

Cedric refused to give up.

“Willow, it was all my fault… can’t you just be generous and forgive us?”

I looked at him and smiled slowly.

“Generous?

“Sorry, I don’t know how.”

“No one ever taught me to be generous.”

“I only know one thing: I’ll get back everything people owe me.”

I stood up and left.

Cedric shouted behind me.

“Willow Ashbourne, stop right there!”

“Don’t forget your last name is Ashbourne! Even if you won’t forgive us, you’re still one of us! Your blood will always be

Ashbourne blood!”

I stopped, turned around, and smiled faintly.

‘I forgot to tell you.”

‘I’m not an Ashbourne anymore. My name is Willow Rowan. I’m the Luna of Silverpine Pack.”

I rolled up my sleeve and showed them my arms covered in old scars.

‘As for the Ashbourne blood you talk about…”

“It’s been drained dry by you over the years. We’re even.”

I walked out without looking back, leaving that cold, cramped, rotten room behind.

Not long after, Rowan and I left the city.

From that day on.

I lived only for myself.
