Within days, the news spread everywhere: Heiress 

Angelica Rossi Moretti presumed dead in a tragic 

accident. 

Then came another bombshell. An anonymously leaked 

security video showed a hooded figure tampering with 

the ride’s harness hours before the incident. 

The internet exploded. 

[That wasn’t an accident. That was murder!] 

[Who is that?!] 

[Wasn’t her husband, Michael Moretti, seen forcing her onto that ride?] 

[Wait, look at the gala photos from that night! The girl with Moretti… her build, her walk… they match the figure in the video!] 

The tide turned. Speculation became accusation. Words like love triangle, mistress, and murder for hire 

trended. 

Michael’s PR team scrambled. His lawyers scrambled. Then the police showed up. 

In the penthouse, Michael finally exploded at Lily. He grabbed her shoulders. “Was it you? Tell me the truth!” 

She burst into tears. “I didn’t mean to kill her! I just wanted to scare her! To teach her a lesson for throwing me in the pool! Michael, I swear, it was an accident!” 

A pounding at the door. 

“Police! Open up!” 

Lily dropped to her knees, clutching his leg. “Michael, please! You have to help me! I’m… I’m pregnant! It’s yours! I can’t go to jail!” 

The words hit him like a fist. A child. His child. 

His eyes went from her terrified face to the door, where the pounding grew louder. 

He saw his sister’s face. His wife’s face. The white urn. 

A crushing weight of realization came down on him. 

He had done this. His weakness. His obsession. It had 

all led to this. 

He closed his eyes. “Never do anything like this again,” he said hoarsely. 

He opened the door to the police. “Officers, there’s been a mistake. I can explain everything.” 

He took the fall. 

The day Michael was formally charged, his world collapsed a second time. 

His CFO called, his voice frantic. Massive unauthorized transfers. Company accounts drained. Every signature and seal had been verified. They were all his. 

Lily visited him in the detention cell. She looked different. “Michael, you need to sign these. They’re for 

the lawyer. For the baby’s future.” She pushed the 

papers through the slot. 

He signed without looking. 

She took the documents. A smile spread across her 

face. “You’re such an idiot, Michael Moretti. A rich, 

gullible, sentimental idiot.” 

She leaned closer. “The baby isn’t yours. You were just 

the easiest mark on my list. Goodbye, honey. Enjoy 

prison.” 

He stared after her as her heels clicked down the 

concrete hallway. He couldn’t process it. It took hours. 

Those documents… He suddenly remembered the titles. 

Stock transfer agreements. 

He had just signed away his entire empire. 

He slammed into the wall of his cell, a raw howl tearing 

from his throat. He clutched the silver bracelet, my last belonging. “Angelica… I’m sorry… I’m so sorry…” 

He slid down the wall, shoulders shaking, sobbing silently. 

Then the grief began to harden into something else. He 

lifted his head, his eyes red, but for the first time in 

months, they were clear. 

“Lily,” he whispered to the empty cell. “You’ll pay 

too.”
