The Wedding Rehearsal Game Broke Me Completely Chapter 06

Grayson was still dealing with the wreckage of the wedding.

Guests and relatives kept peppering him with questions, and the officiant stood by, waiting on him to confirm

what came next.

He fielded them one by one, phone never leaving his hand.

Lucy hadn’t answered a single message.

Her phone had gone from unanswered to switched off.

The fire in Grayson’s chest kept climbing.

She’d said no in front of everyone, taken off the ring, and walked out on a room full of guests.

And topped it off by humiliating him with “You lose.”

Irritated, he kicked at the flower stand by his foot. The fresh white roses swayed, shedding a few petals.

Once the last of the guests had cleared out, Grayson was the only one left in the empty hall.

Still no reply. Nothing but silence.

The ring sat quietly on the officiant’s tray.

He picked it up, and Lucy’s face right before she’d left came back to him.

No tears. No begging.

Calm, like she genuinely didn’t care anymore.

“Grayson.”

Sienna came over with a glass of water and sat down beside him.

“I can’t reach Lulu either. She’s probably just hiding out to make a point.”

Her tone was light.

“Don’t worry about it. She’s just throwing a tantrum somewhere. Isn’t that how it always goes? The more attention we give her, the more worked up she gets. Let’s just do what we always do. Ignore her.”

Grayson didn’t respond.

Sienna leaned in closer, eager, brainstorming.

“Being frozen out is her worst nightmare. When we were kids, how long did she ever last before she came crying, begging us to stop?”

“There was that one time she hid in the bathroom crying for two hours, and she still came out on her own to beg. Give it a few more days and she’ll come running back.”

Grayson’s fist clenched, knuckles going pale.

He used to find it fun, too.

The more panicked Lucy got, the harder she chased after them crying, the more it proved something to him. and Sienna. A bond so tight no one else could break in.

It even proved just how much Lucy cared, how terrified she was of being left behind.

He’d carried that quiet sense of control around like it was owed to him, watching her fall apart again and

again without a second thought.

But looking back on it now, all that talk of winning and losing, that sense of superiority, none of it made

sense anymore.

After a long silence, Grayson finally spoke.

“Was this game ever actually fun?”

Sienna’s smile froze.

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

She looked at him, wounded.

“Are you blaming me? Did I force you to play?”

“No.”

Grayson pressed two fingers against the bridge of his nose.

“I just… I’m starting to think maybe we took it too far.”

Sienna grabbed his hand immediately.

“How is any of this on you?”

“Lulu was just some orphan nobody wanted when she was little. She was already lucky enough to get adopted.”

“And then she got us, too. It used to just be the two of us. We’re the ones who let her tag along. That’s the only reason she ever had any friends.”

“We’ve been so good to her all these years. What more could she possibly want?”

Slowly, Grayson pulled his hand free.

Sienna didn’t notice, and kept talking.

“She’s just spoiled. That’s the only reason she’d dare pull something like that at her own wedding.”

“Don’t worry. She’ll come back.”

“Didn’t the three of us promise we’d always stay together?”

Grayson didn’t answer. His eyes stayed on the ring in his hand.

After a long moment, he let out a low sigh.

“Did we?”

The ring dug into his palm, sharp enough to hurt.

“But something tells me this time, she’s really done with us.”
