The thirty-two-year-old Ethan stared at the phone, waiting for Evelyn to reply.

Suddenly, everything went black.

When he opened his eyes again, he realized his home had changed.

The luxurious mansion he once knew had become a tiny room barely two hundred square feet.

He was stunned.

What had Evelyn done now?

Suddenly, he regretted telling Evelyn the truth.

Furious, he placed a video call to Evelyn five years in the past.

But to his shock, the face that appeared on the screen was identical to his own.

It was him from five years ago.

The twenty-seven-year-old Ethan’s mind went completely blank.

The thirty-two-year-old Ethan was the first to react.

He told the twenty-seven-year-old Ethan about the call in which he had confessed everything to Evelyn.

Only then did the twenty-seven-year-old Ethan finally understand why Evelyn had suddenly found him.

“Where is Evelyn now? What the hell did she do?”

The thirty-two-year-old Ethan pointed at the concrete wall behind him and snapped, “Why am I living in this

dump? Why am I wearing this cheap clearance-rack crap? The fabric is so bad it’s rubbed my neck raw!”

The twenty-seven-year-old Ethan had no idea what he was talking about.

“I don’t know where she is. But…”

His face was deathly pale as he lifted the medical report Evelyn had left behind with trembling hands.

“She has stomach cancer. It’s advanced.”

“Did you know that?”

The fury on the thirty-two-year-old Ethan’s face froze instantly. The blood seemed to drain backward through his body.

It took him a long while to understand what the other man had said.

His lips trembled.

“How could that be?”

The twenty-seven-year-old Ethan’s eyes turned red.

The hand holding the phone shook nonstop, and even his voice trembled.

“Aren’t you in the future?”

“Tell me where she might have gone.”

“I have to find her. I’ll hire the best medical team. Her cancer can still be cured.”

The thirty-two-year-old Ethan’s eyes reddened as well.

“I don’t know.”

“Then send people to look for her, you idiot!”

The twenty-seven-year-old Ethan jolted back to his senses.

He immediately called his secretary.

“Find Evelyn. I don’t care if you have to search every corner of the country. Find her.”

The secretary fell silent.

Ethan lost his temper and urged him on.

“What are you standing there for? Go!”

“Mr. Bradford, you’re no longer my boss. You don’t have the authority to order me to do anything.”

“What the hell are you talking about? Do you want me to fire you?”

Ethan trembled with rage.

But the secretary’s next words froze him in place.

“Ms. Carter has already sold all the shares she controlled to your longtime business rival.”

“The company no longer belongs to Bradford. It belongs to Shaw now.”

Ethan’s eyes widened in disbelief.

The thirty-two-year-old Ethan understood at once.

That was why he was living in a dump and wearing cheap clothes.

The two of them stayed silent for a long time.

At some point, one of them finally spoke first.

“No matter what, we need to find Evelyn first.”

“Yes. She’s sick. We have to find her.”

In a daze, the twenty-seven-year-old Ethan returned to the mansion.

He had not been back in two years.

The mango tree he and Evelyn had planted together by the front door had already borne fruit.

Back then, he had asked her what she wanted to plant.

Without hesitation, she had chosen mangoes.

They were his favorite fruit.

She had always been like that.

She loved him more than she loved herself.

Whenever he came home from business dinners, she would bring him something for his hangover.

When he got so busy that he skipped meals, she would bring him a homemade meal and watch him eat.

She knew every one of his habits and every one of his likes.

But what about him?

Was it strawberries or raspberries she loved?

He could not remember.

Suddenly, it felt as if a huge hand had seized his heart, squeezing so hard that he could barely breathe.
