The Top Score That Brought The Army Chapter 11

The living room fell deadsilent for quite some time.

Dad suddenly scooped me up, throwing me over his shoulder as he spun around the room in circles.

“My girl got a perfect score!! My daughter’s a genius!”

Mom stood in place, her eyes brimming with tears, though she feigned irritation.

“Put her down! Don’t drop her!”

She immediately whipped out her phone and made a call.

“Hey, look up the home addresses of the second and third place students in the state. I want to send their

families a little thank-you gift.”

“Thanking them for not being able to beat my baby girl.”

Dad stared at the score release screen on his phone, refreshing it at least twenty times.

“I can die happy now! Ten generations of criminals, and we finally get a perfect-score genius! I’m bragging about this for the rest of my life!”

Mom patted my shoulder, her expression filled with pride.

“Back when I was in training with the syndicate, my academic scores were always in the single digits. The instructor told me I was useless for anything besides killing.”

“Who would have thought I’d give birth to such a brilliant daughter?”

My parents threw a massive celebration that lasted three whole days and nights.

A continuous, round-the-clock banquet ran at the Caine estate, with congratulatory gifts pouring in from around the globe until the entire mansion was overflowing.

Even the four families showed up.

When Amon appeared alongside the other three, they looked at me with complex expressions.

Amon walked up to me, his voice slightly raspy. “Angie, congratulations. A perfect score… you truly earned

it.”

Wayne stood beside him, completely stripped of his usual arrogance.

Magnus and Asher stepped forward holding lavish gifts. “About what happened back then… we’re sorry.”

I didn’t take their gifts.

“If I had really been just an ordinary girl, I probably would have never heard that apology in my entire life.”

All four flushed with shame, lowering their heads as they vanished into the night.

Later on, I heard news about Yana through the grapevine.

She choked on the SATS and only scored high enough for a local community college.

She tried to reach back out to Amon and the others, but Amon blocked her on every platform.

Magnus transferred to repeat his senior year elsewhere, Wayne moved abroad, and Asher vanished completely.

In the end, Yana dragged her luggage to that community college all by herself.

As for me, I got accepted into the top university in the country.

On move-in day, Dad wanted to shut down the streets again, but I fought tooth and nail to stop him.

“Dad, I finally have a chance to live a normal life. If you park a hundred helicopters outside my dorm room, I’m going to end up eating lunch alone for the next four years.”

Dad backed off, looking thoroughly dejected. In the end he only sent two guards to trail me from a distance.

I stood at the university gates with my backpack on, watching students coming and going.

I drew in a deep breath and stepped through the gates.

The extra who was once glossed over in a trashy romance novel was finally walking into a life of her own.
