Soon after, her face turned pale, her breathing quickened, and her whole body collapsed into Adrian’s arms.

Adrian’s face turned livid.

Beside him, the head of IT’s knees buckled, and he dropped to the floor.

“Mr. Whitmore, I didn’t know Ms Clarke was using your access card.”

Adrian turned his head sharply.

He remembered now.

That night, Vivian had leaned into his arms and cried, “Adrian, I’m scared. Can I hold your access card for a

second?”

He had said yes.

That one word had taken my life.

Adrian suddenly clutched his chest and bent over, coughing up a mouthful of blood.

He braced himself against the edge of the table, his voice low and cold.

“What about the footage from the day Audrey died?”

Soon, another video lit up on the screen.

Outside the emergency room, I was kneeling in front of Vivian’s wheelchair, knocking my forehead against the tile again and again until blood ran down from my brow.

I clutched the blanket over her lap and begged her over and over.

In the footage, Vivian leaned down and said something beside my ear.

There was no sound, but Adrian could read her lips.

She said, “I want her dead.”

The next second, Audrey’s monitor turned into a flat line.

Adrian hurled the cup in his hand at the screen. Glass shattered, and half the image went black.

He turned and walked out.

Vivian’s room still carried the sweet smell of an expensive nutritional drink.

She was checking her reflection in the mirror. When she saw Adrian come in, her eyes immediately filled

with tears.

“Adrian, you finally came to see me.”

“I know you’re grieving, but Evelyn is already…”

Before she could finish, Adrian seized her by the throat and slammed her against the wall.

The bowl of nutritional drink shattered on the floor. Vivian’s feet almost left the ground, and her face

instantly turned purple.

“Did you stage the accident?”

She shook her head desperately.

The veins on the back of Adrian’s hand stood out.

“Did you deliberately kill Audrey too?”

Vivian could barely breathe. Tears sprang to her eyes.

But when she looked at Adrian’s near-mad expression, she suddenly laughed.

“So what if I did? You were the one who ordered them to take Evelyn’s blood. You were the one who held her down and stopped her from struggling.”

Adrian’s face went rigid.

Vivian laughed even harder.

“Adrian, why are you pretending to be devoted now? When she knelt and begged you, you still didn’t stop,

did you?”

“When her sister died, didn’t you come to comfort me first?”

Adrian suddenly grabbed the water glass on the bedside table, smashed it, and pressed the broken edge against her face.

Blood ran down Vivian’s cheek at once.

“You deserve to die.”

Vivian finally panicked and screamed as she struggled.

Doctors and nurses rushed in, but no one dared approach.

Only after the police arrived did several people work together to drag Adrian away.

Vivian collapsed on the floor, a ring of bruises around her neck and her cheek cut and bleeding. As she was

carried out, she was still shouting.

Even if you kill me, it won’t change anything.”

Evelyn is never coming back. You and your daughter are the ones who killed her.”
