The Stupid Wife’s Last Stand Chapter 07

The Stupid Wife’s Last Stand Chapter 07

Mia had no idea the floor had fallen out from under her.

She walked in radiating a manufactured docility, wearing that gentle look she had perfected.

“Dante, I thought you were tired,” she said. “We can buy the nursery supplies another day…”

Dante did not waste a single word.

He looked at her with the same coldness he reserved for enemies.

“Get rid of it.”

Mia froze. “Get rid of…?”

“The child,” he said. “End it.”

She stared at him blankly. “But Dante, you need an heir. I promise our child will be smart. The old Moretti will accept it.”

Dante clicked the mouse.

The security footage filled the room with sound.

Mia heard her own voice.

All the color drained from her face. She staggered half a step back.

“I… I’m sorry, Dante. I was desperate. I made a mistake.”

“A mistake?” he cut in. “The Dante of this family doesn’t get to make mistakes.”

His voice turned colder. “Unfortunately, I did. So now I have to correct it.”

Mia gripped the edge of the desk and began to cry.

“What about your agreement with your father? What about the shares? You need this child to protect your stake in the family.”

For one brief second, guilt gnawed at him.

His father, the old Moretti, had withheld twenty percent of the family’s legitimate business shares because Dante had married Autumn. The deal was simple. Produce an intelligent heir, and the shares would belong to him.

But had it really only been about the shares?

Dante could not even admit the truth to himself.

Maybe he had let Mia get close not only because she was smart and useful.

Maybe seeking refuge in someone as transactional as she was was easier than confronting the fragility of his own heart.

It was over.

He looked at Mia, his expression carved from ice.

“The pregnancy ends. That’s final.”

She screamed. She begged.

But two of his men were already at the door. They did not hurt her, but they offered no escape.

Within an hour, she was taken to a clinic.

Then Dante received the information he needed.

Autumn had boarded a flight to Australia.

“Book me the fastest flight to Sydney.”

Standing alone in the silent house, Dante looked one last time at the wedding photo on the wall.

He told himself there was still time.

He had made a mistake.

But his wife had a soft heart.

She would understand.

She would forgive him.
