For some reason, I felt guilty under Leith’s stare.

I walked over to him. “Why are you still here?”

Larkhaven was warm during the day, but the temperature dropped fast after sunset.

Leith must have been waiting for a long time. Even the tip of his nose had turned red from the cold.

He did nothing, just held out a paper bag.

I peeked inside and found ibuprofen, heat patches, and a bottle of ginger tea sweetened with honey.

Why was he going this far for me?

Had I misunderstood something between us?

I looked up, but Leith wasn’t watching me.

His icy gaze was fixed on Madox behind me.

Madox shifted awkwardly. “And he is?”

“This is Leith. Our siblings are married.”

Madox smiled.

“So he’s family. I’ll let you two talk.”

He turned to leave, then glanced back at me.

“Don’t forget what we talked about, Tavi.”

I smiled. “I won’t.”

Madox managed the campus radio station. He said I had a clear, broadcast-ready voice and asked me to

audition.

I had agreed.

The second he walked away, Leith’s thoughts exploded in my head.

I decided to test him.

“Are you jealous?”
