The Screens Predict My Doom, I Rewrite The Script Chapter 03

The Screens Predict My Doom, I Rewrite The Script Chapter 03

At breakfast the next morning, Reese walked over carrying a bowl of lobster bisque, a sweet smile on her face. “Zuri, try this. It’s delicious.”

“No, thank you,” I politely declined.

But she insisted, and as she stepped closer, her foot suddenly slipped.

The scalding bisque spilled entirely onto my lap as the bowl shattered across the floor.

A fiery redness immediately bloomed across my skin, making me gasp from the sharp pain.

Reese burst into tears on the spot. “I’m so sorry, Zuri… I didn’t mean to…”

Mrs. Colon shot me a look of disapproval. “Why didn’t you just reach out and catch it?”

Mr. Colon frowned. “Clumsy and slow-witted.”

[Here it comes! The villainess is gonna use this to make a scene!]

[She definitely dodged it on purpose! So manipulative!]

[She deserves to get burned! That’s what she gets for throwing herself at the ML!]

Javier arrived just in time.

Reese threw herself into his arms, sobbing hysterically.

His eyes filled with deep concern as he gently patted her back, turning a cold glare toward me. “Reese was nice enough to bring you bisque. Why the attitude?”

I looked up, meeting Mr. and Mrs. Colon’s eyes. “Mr. and Mrs. Colon, did I knock the bowl over?”

They had nothing to say to that, but Mr. Colon still waved a dismissive hand. “Your sister being startled is the real issue here.”

To “comfort” Reese, Mr. Colon announced right then and there, “That small branch company I planned to let Zuri manage—we’ll give it to Reese for now.”

Javier nodded. “I’ll throw in some extra corporate resources too as my engagement gift to Reese.”

“Whatever.” My response was entirely flat.

[Why isn’t the villainess throwing a fit? Something’s wrong…]

Back in my room, another wire transfer arrived from Javier: [Stop targeting Reese.]

I accepted the money.

Then, I slowly typed a sentence and sent it.

[Javier, do you even remember that I’m allergic to seafood?]

The other side went completely silent.

After a long pause, another massive wire transfer came through.

I curled my lips and accepted every single dime.

There was no reason to pass it up; this was exactly what he owed me as hush money and compensation for wasting my youth.

The sound of a car engine drifted through the window, accompanied by Reese’s giggles.

Javier was probably taking her out shopping to cheer her up.

It wasn’t until evening that Javier brought Reese back from their shopping spree.

Moments later, Reese ran into my room, crying. “Zuri, my pink diamond necklace is missing! It was Javier’s engagement gift to me…”

She held up her phone to show me a picture.

My pupils contracted sharply.

I recognized that necklace.

A year ago, Javier took me to an auction and told me to pick the most beautiful piece from the catalog.

I chose this exact pink diamond.

He went all in and won it at a staggering price.

I waited for a long time, but he never gave it to me.

When I finally couldn’t help but ask, he told me, “I gave it to my cousin.”

So it had been meant for Reese all along.

[Why’s the villainess making that face? She definitely stole it!]

[Search her room!]

Javier looked at me coldly. “Zuri, you’re the only one who’s been home all day. Hand it over.”

“I didn’t take it.”

Mrs. Colon rushed in, her tone sharp. “We aren’t saying you took it, we’re just asking if you saw it.”

“Yeah, Zuri,” Reese whispered. “That necklace is incredibly expensive…”

The words were practically pointing a finger at my face, accusing me of theft.

Javier watched me, his heavy gaze filled with scrutiny and disappointment.

That disappointment stung me faintly like a needle.

Suddenly, a profound exhaustion washed over me, stripping away even the energy to argue.

“I’ve been in my room the entire time. If you don’t believe me, check the security footage.” I looked directly at Javier. “There are cameras in the living room and the hallway.”

Javier’s expression shifted slightly.

Reese also froze.

“Oh, let’s not bother with the security footage. No need to make this into a big deal…” Mrs. Colon tried to smooth things over.

Just then, a maid ran in hurriedly. “Miss Colon! The necklace fell into the gap under your bed! I’ve put it away for you!”

The entire room fell dead silent.

[Wait, it really was a misunderstanding?]

[Looking at her, she really doesn’t seem interested in stealing anything… This is kind of weird…]

The floating comments were sparse now, and opinions were beginning to split.

Javier’s face remained rigid as he wired me another large sum of money: [Sorry for misunderstanding you.]

I accepted it.

Returning to my desk, I opened my phone and scheduled an abortion.

[What is the villainess doing? I can’t see her screen clearly…]

[Who cares, she’s definitely plotting her next move.]

I locked my phone and closed my eyes.
