The Revenge Donna Hid for Two Decades Chapter 01

The day I got engaged to the richest man alive.

My mother picked up the microphone with a bright smile right in front of everyone. “Truth be told, my daughter used to work as an adult live streamer back in the day, sleeping around with one man after another for views. Now she’s finally found someone willing to take her off my hands.”

I stared at her in utter disbelief.

Ethan instantly pulled me behind him. “Ma’am, don’t ever joke about things like that again.”

Later on, my mother apologized to me in private. “I only said that to test if he truly had genuine feelings for you.”

Yet on the eve of our wedding, I had dinner personally cooked by my own mother.

When I opened my eyes again, I was lying in bed with my younger sister’s boyfriend.

The moment Ethan laid eyes on the scene, his eyes turned red with fury. “It seems everything your mother said was indeed true.”

In the end, my younger sister took my place as the bride on our wedding day.

I looked over at my mother through tear-blurred eyes.

She remained completely unfazed. “Your sister is far more suited to be Ethan’s wife than you ever were.”

Twenty years later, the new-generation richest man brought his girlfriend to pay me a visit. “Mom, if you approve of her, we’ll get engaged right away.”

I stared at the face that was an exact carbon copy of my sister’s. “I don’t approve.”

The single phrase spread across the entire banquet hall in an instant.

Every guest present froze in shock.

This girl was Vivian, my sister’s daughter.

A top-tier graduate from the Juilliard School.

Her mother was a renowned socialite, her father the former wealthiest man in the nation and the youngest business tycoon on the East Coast, and her maternal grandmother a world-famous philanthropist.

Even my own son Theo was stunned. “Mom… you seemed to like Vivian a lot when I told you about her before.”

“I hadn’t met her in person back then. Now that I have, I’ve changed my mind.”

Murmurs broke out among the crowd.

After all, Vivian had inherited her mother’s flawless beauty, and she had even been the campus belle back at Juilliard.

Never had Vivian been rejected so bluntly before. Her face flushed bright red with embarrassment. “Ma’am, did I fail to mind my manners, dress inappropriately, or make some other mistake? Please tell me straight out, and I’ll fix it at once!”

“There’s nothing for you to fix.” I took a slow sip of red wine. “You will never be welcomed into the Vance family for the rest of your life.”

“Madam.”

One guest could no longer stay silent. “You must have heard of Vivian’s maternal grandmother, Eleanor Vance. She’s a globally celebrated philanthropist who has helped countless people in need. Vivian was raised strictly under her guidance. You have absolutely nothing to worry about regarding her upbringing.”

A cold laugh escaped me.

So even my sister’s daughter had received all my mother’s devoted favoritism all these years.

Theo looked at me in pure confusion. “Mom… did Vivian do something wrong to upset you?”

“This has nothing to do with anything she’s done.” I replied calmly.

Vivian grew frantic. “On what grounds?! What right do you have to bar me from your family?! Point out my flaws if you must! I refuse to accept such unreasonable rejection!”

I narrowed my eyes coldly. “I am the sole head of this family. I hold full authority over my son’s marriage choices. Do I owe you a detailed explanation for every decision I make?”

“You—”

Vivian was utterly humiliated. She covered her mouth and fled the banquet hall, slamming the door hard behind her.

I kept my composure, raised my glass and apologized to all the guests. The banquet resumed as usual.

No one dared cross me on my own territory.

I raised my son single-handedly, and he had always respected every decision I made.

“Mom, if she ever offended you in any way, don’t hold it in and hurt yourself.”

I simply smiled and said nothing.

Just as the banquet was drawing to an end, the grand hall doors swung open wide.

“May I ask who is Cleo Vance?”

Standing there was my younger sister, whom I hadn’t seen in twenty long years.
