The Rejected Luna’s Sweet Revenge Chapter 07

The Rejected Luna’s Sweet Revenge Chapter 07

Savannah arrived.

She wore an extravagant fur coat, jewels glittering at her throat and wrists, flanked by a line of warriors as she stepped into my tiny dessert shop.

The room instantly felt smaller.

Even the warm, sweet scent of pastries seemed smothered beneath the heavy, cloying perfume

she carried with her.

She held her lower back as she walked, her stomach already round and prominent.

Her gaze slid over my face, then lingered on my limp leg, openly assessing me with a mixture of

condescension and feigned pity.

“Rue,” she said, her voice soft and delicate, each word sharp enough to cut. “It’s been a while. You’ve certainly found yourself… a peaceful little hideaway.”

I was arranging fresh cheese pies on the display rack. I didn’t lift my head.

“Luna Savannah,” I answered lightly, “what would you like to buy?”

She ignored the question, her tone dripping with false concern.

“This place is so remote, so humble. Rue, why make life hard for yourself?”

“Zachary has a good heart. He remembers the past and checks on you now and then. Don’t misunderstand and create unnecessary trouble.”

“Why don’t I give you some money? You can move somewhere nicer, live quietly… and avoid

gossip.”

I finally looked up. Her smile was flawless, gentle, perfectly practiced, yet her eyes glittered with

suspicion and calculation.

Some things never changed. She still needed a crowd of escorts and the full weight of the pack’s

authority behind her just to feel secure.

And I, standing alone in my small shop, felt nothing but calm.

“No need for Luna to trouble herself,” I said evenly.’m doing just fine here.”

I paused, letting my gaze sweep over the warriors she brought with her.

“As for gossip… Luna arriving with an entire escort to visit a small-town shop would stir far more

talk than anything I could do.”

Savannah’s expression tightened. She drew breath, ready to retort, but the door slammed open.

Zachary stormed inside, fury radiating off him.

He must have rushed over the moment he heard she was here, and his expression was

thunderous.

His eyes landed on me first. When he confirmed I was unharmed, the tension in his shoulders

visibly eased.

Then his gaze snapped to Savannah. “What are you doing here?!”

Savannah flinched at the sharpness of his tone. Then, as if on cue, her eyes shimmered with tears.

“Zachary, I… I heard you’ve been coming to this remote place. I was worried about you… I only

wanted to check on Rue…”

Zachary let out a cold laugh. “You’ve checked. You can go.”

“You-!” Savannah’s composure cracked as she realized he was scolding her in front of everyone. Her voice sharpened, shrill with humiliation.

“No wonder you keep coming to this godforsaken place! You knew she was here, didn’t you? You’re here to revisit old feelings, admit it! Don’t forget, I’m your Luna!”

“Enough!” Zachary’s roar cut through her words like a blade. “My affairs are not yours to command.

Go back!”

He didn’t spare her another glance. Turning toward me, his voice lowered, carrying a faint, tight

strain beneath the surface roughness.

“I’m sorry. I promise she won’t disturb you again.”

I nodded, offering no response. Zachary all but forced Savannah out, ignoring her sobs and

protests, ushering her and her warriors away from my shop.

After that day, Savannah never came again.

Some time later, rumors spread through the town.

The Obsidian Pack had urgently called for healers in the middle of the night.

There was chaos everywhere.

In the end, Savannah had gone into a difficult labor After hours of screaming and turmoil, the child

she delivered… was stillborn.

When the news reached my shop, customers sighed, chatted for a moment, then moved on.

One night, as I was preparing to close, the bell above the door jingled softly.

I turned and said, “Sorry, we’re about to close for the night-”

Then I saw the eyes looking back at me.

Zachary’s.
