The Price of Betraying a Mafia Princess Chapter 07

His grip was terrifyingly tight, and Iris screamed in pain, “Luca, you’re hurting me. Have you forgotten I’m pregnant? You said you’d protect me and our children for the rest of your life.”

At the word pregnant, Luca panicked completely.

He threw her hand away, turned around, and dropped to his knees in front of my father, his face

pale.

“Dad, listen to me. The baby she’s carrying isn’t mine. I swear. Let me explain.”

When Iris heard him call my father Dad, she went rigid.

Then a flattering smile spread across her face. “Oh! So you’re Luca’s dad.”

That idiot had mistaken my father for Luca’s father.

In our family, my father had once allowed Luca to call him Dad as a sign of closeness. Iris didn’t

know the truth.

She hurried over to my father. “Luca said you lived overseas most of the year. Why didn’t anyone tell me you were back? I didn’t even prepare a gift. I’m so sorry.”

As she spoke, she adjusted her clothes and tried to look like a sweet, obedient daughter-in-law.

Then she spun around and pointed at me. “Aurora, did you pretend to be me in front of Luca’s father? Is that why he’s protecting you? How can a woman be this shameless?”

“You’re clearly a housekeeper, but you still pretended to be Mrs. Davis to fool his father.”

Everyone looked at one another, visibly confused by the sudden turn.

I suddenly understood.

Luca had never told Iris who I really was because he wanted to protect his pathetic pride.

He was probably ashamed to admit that everything he had came from his wife’s family, from the

Morettis.

To Iris, he was always the successful self-made businessman, while I was nothing but an

afterthought.

The thought made me laugh.

My father’s expression grew even colder.

He stepped back sharply, as if Iris were something filthy, his eyes full of disgust. “I don’t have a piece of garbage like Luca for a son.”

Iris’s smile froze, but she refused to give up.

She gently stroked her slightly rounded belly and said, “Mr. Davis, I know you may not be able to accept me right away. But this is Luca’s second child. You can’t reject your own grandchild, can

you?”

“Grandchild?” My father’s disgust deepened. “You think a child of yours deserves to be my grandchild?”

Luca finally came back to himself.

Through clenched teeth, he said slowly, “Iris, stop talking nonsense. Who said that child is mine? I didn’t even know you were pregnant.”

Iris stared at him, stunned, and tears poured from her eyes. “Luca, how can you say that? Last week in your office, you were the one who said you wanted a daughter. How can you deny it now?”

The admissions director and the others had been so sure Iris was Mrs. Davis, but now they hesitated

and moved a few steps away from her.

I was suddenly fed up with the whole thing.

I didn’t want to watch this disgusting mess anymore.

“Dad, let’s go,” I said wearily. “It’s filthy here. I don’t want to stay.”

I’d settle the rest with them later.
