A full ten seconds passed.

The representatives who had seemed untouchable moments ago stared at me like they’d seen a ghost.

Those four names belonged to the real patriarchs controlling the money and family resources behind them.

Even Damian Falcone might not have known the full story.

Only the most tightly guarded internal files held any trace of them.

Yet the useless heiress mocked by New York’s entire underworld knew their names and could even name the

cities where they were.

“Are you insane?”

For the first time, Damian’s composure cracked.

He shot to his feet and planted both palms on the table.

“Who taught you to spout this nonsense? Don Vittorio, are you seriously putting on this pathetic show just to

buy time?”

My father stood frozen.

His mouth fell open, and he couldn’t say a word.

Clearly, even he had no idea what the names I had just said meant.

My seven brothers were staring at me like they didn’t know me either.

I ignored them, pulled a mint from my pocket, and slowly unwrapped it.

“Why the rush, Damian?”

I tossed the mint into my mouth and bit down.

Then I looked again at the representative from Palermo.

This time, I spoke in Sicilian again.

“Don Salvatore suffered a sudden brain hemorrhage last month. He’s still in the ICU of a private hospital in Zurich. His two sons are practically tearing the family apart over the family trust and control. And you had the nerve to bring a questionable proxy authorization behind their backs and sign a leveraged deal of this

size with Damian.”

I smiled.

“Were you planning to turn the family’s assets into your own while the old man was unconscious? Isn’t that a

little ambitious?”

The man’s face instantly went white.

Sweat rolled down his forehead.

He pointed at me, but for several seconds he couldn’t force out a complete sentence.

I gave him no time to recover before turning to the French representative.

My French never faltered.

“As for Clément, the European Commission formally opened an antitrust investigation last week. The cash in your core accounts might not even cover next month’s payroll. And you still had the nerve to leverage five times your capital to short Moretti Holdings?”

I raised an eyebrow.

“Do you really think every European regulator is blind?”

The French representative seemed to lose all strength and collapsed back into his chair.

He instinctively grabbed his phone, trying to find out who had leaked the information.

Damian finally understood that something was wrong.

They weren’t reacting to a lunatic. They were reacting to someone who had just put a finger on the secrets they’d worked hardest to hide.

“Who are you?”

Damian’s voice went low and dark.

For the first time, he really looked at me.

The contempt he’d shown while teasing a harmless pet was gone. Now he was looking at an opponent who might turn the whole game upside down.

I swallowed the mint and met his eyes coldly.

“Damian, you’ve already shown every card in your hand. Why are you still pretending you’ve won?”

I pointed at the asset–transfer agreement on the table.

“That short position you claim is five times the size of Moretti’s cash reserves is nothing but shell companies layered on top of one another. You borrowed these families‘ names, took out high–interest bridge loans overseas, and planned to fill your own hole in one shot by swallowing Moretti Holdings.”

I leaned back in my chair.

“Once news of those four patriarchs‘ crises became public, your entire funding chain would snap by tomorrow morning.”

I stood and braced both hands on the conference table.

The force I’d kept buried for more than twenty years came roaring back.

“What exactly were you going to use to bankrupt the Moretti family? Your mouth?”
