The Moretti Family’s Useless Eighth Daughter Was Actually a Hidden Powerhouse Chapter 04

Damian’s hand stopped in midair.

He didn’t get angry. He simply lowered his hand and slipped it into his suit pocket.

“I’ve always thought your personality was cute, you know. You don’t want to do anything. You just want to enjoy life.”

His tone was almost soothing, like he was coaxing a difficult little girl.

Then he turned to my father.

“Here’s the deal, Don Vittorio. Sign the agreement, and I’ll personally put up 10 M to establish a lifetime trust for Alessia. It’s enough for her to live comfortably for the rest of her life. She won’t have to do a thing. She can play games, shop, and buy jewelry every day.”

Damian smiled.

“Think of it as me taking an expensive canary off the Moretti family’s hands.”

The room fell completely silent.

That wasn’t just an insult.

In front of everyone in the Moretti family, he had reduced the Don’s daughter, once untouchable, to a collectible he could adopt and toy with whenever he pleased.

“Damian Falcone, I’ll kill you.”

Matteo’s eyes flashed red.

He grabbed the crystal ashtray from the table and hurled it at Damian.

The bodyguard behind Damian stepped in and pinned Matteo with ease.

The bodyguard forced him down onto the cold floor.

“Matteo!”

My mother ran toward him, crying, but another bodyguard blocked her.

My father was shaking all over. He gripped the edge of the table so hard that blood seeped from beneath his nails.

The Moretti family’s greatest pride was being crushed under someone’s heel.

I narrowed my eyes.

That man really did have an awful mouth.

In my previous life, anyone who spoke to me like that never got away easily.

I slapped Matteo’s hand away from the shoulder he had held and stood again.

I only wanted to tell Damian that there was an absurdly stupid leverage flaw in the short position he kept bragging about, the one supposedly five times bigger than our reserves.

“Alessia.”

My mother turned sharply and stared at me.

Her face was wet with tears, and her eyes held an almost desperate plea.

“Please, sweetheart. Don’t make this worse, okay? Go back to your game. This isn’t your problem.”

I froze for a moment.

The fact that she wouldn’t even hear me out left me more speechless than Damian’s insults.

They would rather accept a hopeless defeat than believe the daughter they had written off for more than twenty years might actually have a way out.

“Mrs. Moretti is right.”

Damian glanced at his watch.

“This isn’t a conversation for a clueless little girl.”

“Time’s up.”

He turned back toward the head of the table.

“Since Don Vittorio still can’t make a decision, we’ll start with Alessandro.”

Two broad-shouldered bodyguards immediately moved toward Alessandro.

They moved with practiced brutality, locking onto his arms and dragging him toward the metal cart.

“Let go of me!”

Alessandro fought violently.

After several nights of handling the crisis on almost no sleep, he didn’t have the strength to fight them off.

He was forced toward the white cutting board.

The metal caught the light beneath the ceiling.

“No!”

My father finally broke.

“I’ll sign! I’ll sign!”

He snatched up the fountain pen, his hand shaking so badly that the cap fell to the floor.

“Too late.”

Damian sat back down, his voice still mild.

“I’ve changed my mind, Don Vittorio. You still have to sign, and you still have to leave a hand behind. That’s the price for wasting my time.”

He looked at the bodyguards and gave a small nod.

“Do it. “
