The Mafia’s Unwanted Daughter Is Now Their Downfall Chapter 17

The Mafia’s Unwanted Daughter Is Now Their Downfall Chapter 17

I cut them off.

“It’s not impossible for me to forgive you.”

“But you will, in the name of the head of the Moretti Family, send a statement to every Family that received an invitation, explaining exactly what happened.”

“You will include the fact that Bianca drugged me,

sabotaged my exam, and sabotaged the Family photo,

and you will enter it all into the internal record kept by the

advisers.”

“If you do that, I’ll still acknowledge you as my family.”

The line fell silent.

After a few seconds, Mother finally spoke.

“But if we do that, Bianca will be ruined.”

Drugging her own blood, sabotaging a banquet hosted by the head of the Family, deceiving their allies–any one of those, officially recorded, would be enough to strip her of her protection. No Family would ever be willing to take her in.

“Why don’t you ask for something else? Money, anything–just say the word-”

“No need.”

My voice was calm.

“And don’t contact me again.”

I hung up and changed the number I’d had for years.

They said they wanted to make it up to me, but the moment

they had to make a real choice, they still chose Bianca.

Only this time, I no longer felt hurt.

I put the full, unedited footage, the doctored video, and the recording of that phone call into the same encrypted folder.

If my father wouldn’t clear my name as head of the Family,

then I would reserve the right to tell the truth myself.

College life was peaceful and full.

Besides data engineering, I minored in international trade

and business communication.

My grades remained at the highest level, and I won nearly every engineering award the school had to offer.

Before I even graduated, I had received job offers from several global logistics and technology companies. What they valued was not the Moretti name, but the code I wrote and the systems I built.

Over those four years, I received many gifts and letters from Luca in Philadelphia.

Every letter said he regretted not cherishing me, and every

one said he still loved me.

Later, at a banquet attended by both the Ferraro and Moretti

Families, he stood up.

In front of everyone, he admitted that even though he knew

I was his girlfriend, he had used me to handle Bianca’s problems, and that on his public social media, he had called Bianca his queen.

The head of the Ferraro Family asked him a single question.

“If you can turn your own promises into a performance, what makes you fit to represent this Family?”

That very night, Luca was removed from the line of heir

candidates. The seat he once had near the head of the

Family was pushed to the far end of the room, among the junior members.

That winter, he came to New York and waited outside my

engineering lab all night.

No convoy. No guards.

The next morning, through the glass, I saw him standing in the snow. He had a classmate relay a message to me: if I

would just see him, he would give up everything he had left

with the Ferraros.

I turned back to my computer and never went outside.

Every gift was returned unopened.

I never answered a single letter.

He had finally paid a price, but that could never erase the

hurt he had caused.
