The Mafia’s Unwanted Daughter Is Now Their Downfall Chapter 10

He still wanted me.

It wasn’t because he had suddenly understood what I had

suffered.

He had simply realized that Bianca wasn’t nearly as perfect as he’d imagined, while the girl who had always been there, waiting, might be a better fit to stand beside him as he took

his place in the Ferraro Family.

Originally, he had worried my scores wouldn’t be high

enough and that they would end up in different cities.

Now that he knew my results, all his concerns vanished.

He immediately called me, excited to tell me he had switched

his plans back to the East Coast, too.

But he couldn’t get through, no matter how many times he

tried.

In the end, he had no choice but to call Matteo.

And when he heard that I had finalized New York and had

withdrawn from every Moretti Family contact group, he was completely dumbfounded.

By the time they all started to feel regret, I had already

arrived safely in New York.

Because my grades were strong, the school had waived part

of my tuition and awarded me a scholarship.

On top of that, with the money I’d saved from programming projects during school breaks, my living expenses for all four years of college were covered.

There was still over a month before the semester officially

began.

During that time, besides getting to know the city, I reinvented myself.

I cut the long hair I’d kept for eighteen years, trimming it to my shoulders.

The truth was, I had never liked long hair.

It was just that Bianca had always worn hers long. Every time people from our Families saw us, their first reaction was always to praise her for looking like she belonged at the

head table.

Then they would turn to me and say I looked like an unruly boy without an ounce of decorum.

To keep people from mocking me, I started copying her, growing my hair long and replacing the jeans in my closet

with dresses.

I remembered one time Bianca had walked up to Luca with

her hair down, wearing a gown.

I had seen his eyes light up.

For the rest of that day, his gaze kept drifting back to her.
