The Mafia Don’s Broken Wife Chapter 05

Early the next morning, Kyle drove alone to the show’s final destination.

The entire process would be broadcast live.

If both spouses stepped out of the car, it meant they chose to stay married.

As he passed a hearse, a strange, unshakable unease crept over him.

The night before, he’d told his assistant to pick me up, but I never returned to the hotel. He assumed I’d left early.

He waited for a long time.

When a car finally pulled up in front of him, he walked toward it, smiling.

But the moment he saw who stepped out, his face went pale.

At the same time, his assistant came rushing over in a panic.

“Mr. Voss! Something’s wrong!”

The car radio suddenly switched on, playing a pre-recorded farewell.

My soft voice filled the space.

“Dear fans, when you’re listening to this… I’ve already left this world…”

The director’s hands trembled as he pulled a slip from the box and handed it to Kyle.

“Lila… every single time, she chose ‘divorce.””

The assistant’s voice shook. “We followed your instructions to bring her back, but we couldn’t find

her all night.”

Kyle didn’t react.

He just stood there, listening to my voice on the radio, fists clenched so tight his knuckles turned

pale, his bloodshot eyes wide with disbelief.

The director and assistant froze at the same realization.

“That voice… it’s Mrs. Voss.”

Kyle suddenly roared, desperate and furious. “That’s not her! Shut up!”

I hovered above him, watching the scene quietly.

So this was how he looked when he heard I was dead.

I always thought he’d be happy-finally free to marry Elara.

He stared at the director, his voice breaking.

“How is this possible? She loves me. She would never divorce me.”

I drifted closer, trying to see if his grief was real.

He looked devastated.

But if my choice hurt him this much, why did he leave me in the snow?

He had no idea how cold it was.

So cold I forgot the pain from the cancer.

His phone rang.

Normally, he would’ve picked up immediately.

This time, he ignored it.

The ringing went on and on.

The assistant spoke carefully. “Mr. Voss… it’s Miss Grant. She’s called several times.”

For the first time, annoyance flashed across Kyle’s face at her name.

“What?” he answered coldly.

Elara’s voice came through, complaining.

“How’s the livestream? It cut out. I’m worried about you. Don’t forget-you promised to divorce

Lila. I’m carrying your son.”

The more she rambled, the deeper Kyle’s frown became.

“Are you done?” he snapped, cutting her off.

Elara froze, then asked cautiously, “What’s wrong? Did Lila refuse to divorce you? What about me?

I’m going to start showing soon. I don’t want our child to be called illegitimate.”

She started crying.

Kyle’s expression darkened.

He hung up immediately, crushing the slip of paper in his hand, his eyes burning with stubborn
