The Luna They Never Made Room For Chapter 03

The Luna They Never Made Room For Chapter 03

Mom casually eats her cupcake without even looking up, her tone completely matter-of-fact.

“What do you mean, your money? Everything you’ve eaten, worn, and used for school since you were little has been paid for by this family. The money you earn is family money too. We were a little short when we were buying clothes for you girls, so I used some of it to cover the difference.”

“That’s money I earned myself.”

My voice rises, but it still trembles uncontrollably.

Tammy takes a sip of her coffee and lets out a soft laugh.

“Seriously, Annie? You’re being so stingy. It’s just a little money. And now you’re yelling at Mom and Dad over it? That’s so rude.”

Dad’s expression darkens too. He slams his hand against the table.

“Why are you keeping such a clear line between family members? We’ve had a lot of expenses lately. What’s wrong with using it for now? We’ll pay you back later.”

Every word they say sounds completely justified, making me look like the unreasonable one throwing a tantrum.

I look around this so-called home.

There has never been anything here that truly belongs to me.

My bed can be buried under Tammy’s luggage. My food and personal belongings can be taken whenever she wants. Even the savings I work so hard to earn can be taken away with a simple, “We’re family.”

And to them, my hurt is not even worth mentioning.

My eyes sting, but not a single tear falls.

I do not argue anymore. I do not bother explaining. I simply wait for school to start.

I am leaving this place. And I am leaving for good.

Late that night, I sit in the bathroom, trying to figure out how I can earn more money once school starts.

Then I suddenly hear a faint noise coming from the living room.

A second later, Tammy lets out a piercing scream.

My heart tightens.

I carefully step outside, that’s when a strange scent hits me.

The scent of an unfamiliar werewolf.

A man wearing a ski mask is rummaging through the valuables in the living room. From the looks of it, Tammy must have caught him by surprise.

Mom and Dad rush out of their bedroom when they hear the commotion.

But the intruder does not panic at all. Instead, he runs straight into Tammy’s room.

The moment Tammy sees him holding her favorite bag, she completely loses it and charges at him.

“What are you doing? Who said you could touch my bag? Do you have any idea how much that costs? Put it down right now, or I’ll call the warriors and have you arrested!”

The thief is pushed over the edge.

In the next second, he pulls out a silver knife and drives it straight toward Tammy, “Don’t come any closer! I only want money. I don’t want any trouble.”

Tammy’s face turns deathly pale.

She freezes, too terrified to even move, and can only scream.

At the critical moment, Mom does not hesitate for even a second.

She suddenly turns around, throws out both hands, and shoves me hard.

I am completely unprepared.

The force sends me stumbling straight toward the thief. The next second, the silver blade plunges through my back.

Agonizing pain tears through my entire body. Warm, sticky blood pours from the wound, quickly soaking through my clothes.

Even the thief freezes for a moment.

He looks down at me lying in a pool of blood, as if he finally realizes what he has done. Then he scrambles through the window and runs.

I lie on the cold floor, struggling to lift my head.

My vision is already blurring.

But the first thing I see is not my parents rushing to save me.

Mom immediately throws herself toward the trembling Tammy, pulling her tightly into her arms and frantically checking her from head to toe.

Her voice is filled with panic and relief.

“Tammy, are you okay? Did you get hurt?”

“It’s okay, sweetheart. It’s okay. Mommy’s here.”

Tammy curls up in her arms, crying so hard she can barely catch her breath.

Dad stands beside them, helplessly hovering around them.

No one looks at me. No one asks if I am in pain.

I lie in my own pool of blood, my entire body shaking from the pain, yet I suddenly laugh.

As I laugh, tears finally begin falling onto the floor, one after another.

I finally understand.

My bed can be used to store her things. My money can be taken to buy her luxury goods.

And now, I finally know the truth.

Even my life is worth less than hers.
