His body swayed, his expression consumed inch by inch with shock and bewilderment.

All these years, those memories had played on an endless, torturous loop, tormenting him with every passing

second.

They had happened so vividly, yet except for him, no one else remembered that he and Cora Dawson had ever been together.

Five years. Over eighteen hundred days and nights.

He’d gone from frantic longing to a near-delirious state. He’d even seen a psychiatrist and once doubted

whether he had truly gone insane.

But he knew he wasn’t insane. It was just that none of it could be proven.

Those ten years of love and resentment-etched into his bones-were imprisoned in his memory alone.

He had believed, with certainty, that Cora must remember too.

So when he heard through the grapevine that Cora would be attending this reunion, he canceled every meeting and told no one before showing up.

But now.

He looked into her eyes, utterly devoid of emotion. No love. No resentment.

He suddenly felt like he’d been plunged into an ice chamber.

“You don’t remember?”

The last line of defense in Wyatt’s heart was being destroyed, piece by piece.

Ignoring the astonished stares of our classmates, he grabbed my hand and rushed out the door.

Startled, I tried to pull free. But the man in front of me held on like I was a lost treasure he’d just reclaimed,

gripping me so tightly I couldn’t break free.

He pushed me into his car and floored it, speeding straight to the neighborhood where he lived.

After parking, Wyatt turned to face me, his eyes rimmed red, and pointed at the house in front of us.

His voice came out raw and hoarse.
