Watching her expensive treats get taken away, Sylvie’s face darkened.

Losing the chocolates was one thing, but those candies were laced!

Moreover, they were incredibly expensive. She had been hoarding them, reluctant to eat them herself. If Nova hadn’t started losing weight and looking visibly slimmer over the past few days, she never would have wasted something so pricey just to tempt her.

The moment the bell rang for the passing period, Sylvie rushed to the staff office to apologize to Mrs. Gable.

‘Mrs. Gable,” Sylvie began hesitantly, “Nova really loves those chocolates. Could I possibly take them back to give to her?”

“Isn’t Nova on a diet? You shouldn’t be pushing junk food on her,” Mrs. Gable said earnestly. “You need to focus on your studies. I’m keeping these to teach you a lesson. No more passing things around during class.”

Realizing she wasn’t getting the box back, Sylvie opened her mouth but

hesitated.

She couldn’t exactly confess that she had stuffed pills into the centers of the candies, could she?

Mrs. Gable glanced at her. “What is it? Was there something else?”

“No… nothing else. Goodbye, Mrs, Gable.”

Terrified of blowing her cover, Sylvie practically fled the office.

Her heart pounded in her chest.

It’s just chocolate… Mrs. Gable won’t gain that much weight from a few pieces, right?

Trying to comfort herself, Sylvie accidentally bumped right into Caleb Langdon in the hallway.

Seeing her pale and distracted, Caleb asked, “Sylvie, what were you doing

‘I… I got scolded by the teacher today, so I went to apologize.”

‘Because I tried to give Nova some chocolate during class, and the teacher confiscated it…”

‘Nova? Why is it always Nova?”

A look of pure annoyance crossed Caleb’s face.

Oblivious to his irritation, Sylvie looked up at him pleadingly. “Caleb, Nova really loves those chocolates, but she’s been ignoring me lately. Could you help me get them back from the teacher?”
