The Last Night with My Sugar Daddy Chapter 08

Chloe’s POV

I whipped my head around, only to see Marcus‘ malicious face.

“Chloe, it’s cold outside. Why don’t you get in my car?”

My heart violently contracted.

I took off running, not even bothering to pick up my phone when it slipped from my pocket and fell to the ground.

Terrified he would chase me in his car, I blindly turned into a maze of crisscrossing alleyways.

My hands were shaking so badly I could barely make a fist.

My fingertips finally found the side button on my watch, dialing my emergency contact’s number.

During the half–year I was on a business trip abroad, Julian, out of concern for my safety, gave me a watch equipped with a GPS chip and set his own number as the emergency contact.

The moment the call connected, I was on the verge of tears.

“Julian…”

“Hello, Julian is taking a shower. Do you need something?”

Hearing Serena’s voice, I froze for a second, but still tried my best to stay calm as I spoke.

“I’m being followed by the account manager from today’s dinner.

“It’s too dark, so I don’t know exactly where I am, but Julian can check the exact GPS location of my watch from his end.

“Could you please help me get him to call the police?”

I said that last sentence in an almost pleading tone.

The other end of the line went quiet for two seconds, followed by a

soft scoff

“Addicted to playing the self–injury ploy, are we?”

A moment later, Julian’s cold, detached voice came through the phone.

“Whose call is it?”

A glimmer of hope surged in my heart once again.

“Chloe. She’s pestering for you to answer the phone.”

“What does she want?”

“What else could it be? She just wants to ruin my mood!” Serena said petulantly. “If you answer it, I’m leaving right now!”

Julian’s voice was so soft, it was as if he were coaxing a child.

“Alright, be good, stop fussing. I won’t answer it.”

Before I could say another word, the sharp dial tone had already pierced my ear.

I stood frozen in place, clutching my phone.

When I saw Marcus‘ silhouette appear under the streetlight behind me, the blood in my veins ran entirely cold.
