The Hybrid King’s Secret Mate Chapter 09

The Hybrid King’s Secret Mate Chapter 09

Veda froze on the spot. She didn’t even dare turn around.

Camden stepped in first. After confirming I was unharmed, his expression eased slightly.

Queen Macy and Ryker followed behind him. Their eyes swept across the wrecked shop, their

gazes turning sharp.

“Enough nonsense.”

The situation was quickly brought under control.

They all looked at me in silence, as if they had never seen me holding a crossbow before.

I set the weapon down and said nothing.

Riley sneered.

“Weren’t you the ones who said you wouldn’t come? Your words mean nothing.”

The three of them lowered their heads in haste.

“Paisley, we will handle this.”

Camden’s voice turned hoarse.

“Just… live well. Don’t run into people like us again.”

I didn’t bother responding.

Veda, completely ignored, suddenly screamed.

“Why do you all only look at her the moment she shows up? Camden, I am your legal wife. I

am your queen.”

“Don’t forget, you were the ones who sent her to the tribunal, to the mental institution. And

now you act like you care?”

Her voice shook as she cried, but none of the three who once adored her showed any

reaction. They only glanced at her coldly, just like they once did to me.

Camden’s voice turned icy.

“I warned you not to bother her again. If you do, you won’t leave the clinic next time.”

Ryker and Macy stood by without speaking.

No one defended her.

So familiar.

Camden had always been obsessed with power and control, ever since his youth. Even love for him always came with calculation.

He could do this to me back then. Of course he could do it to Veda now.

As for Macy and Ryker, they always seemed to favor the “weaker one.”

Back then it was Veda returning to the castle.

Now it was me, the “fallen” daughter living in a small shop.

A sudden gasp cut through the air.

A maid pointed at Veda.

“Blood… Queen Veda is bleeding.”

The pale dress under her hands was already soaked red. Veda reached out toward Camden,

her face drained of color.

“Save the baby… Camden… Mom… brother…”

No one took her hand.

Macy frowned.

“Send her to the hospital. We are not midwives.”

Camden’s expression didn’t even change, as if the one bleeding was not his wife and not his

child.

The light in Veda’s eyes faded completely.

After everyone left, Queen Macy pushed a velvet box toward me.

Ryker’s voice was hoarse.

“This was prepared for your wedding… your dowry.”

“Paisley, this is all we have left for you.”

I didn’t take it.

They left it there and walked away with red eyes.

Camden lingered the longest. He looked at me for a long time before speaking, his voice

breaking.

“If you ever need anything, you can still find me.”

“I always loved you. The Paisley who carried me home in that snowy night.”

“I was the one who lost you.”

Then he staggered out.

Later, rumors spread that the young hybrid king was ambushed and taken by a rogue pack at

the border. His body was never fully recovered.

His wife, after hearing the news, took an overdose of vervain and died by suicide.

Ryker’s rule also collapsed after Veda’s madness exposed the murder of the previous

vampire king, their father. He disappeared quietly from the imperial court.

I did not ask for more details.

From this point on, we were strangers.

And that, perhaps, was the best ending of all.
