I pulled myself out of the memories and looked at Camden calmly.

“King Camden, we settled everything ten years ago.”

“I honestly don’t understand what you’re trying to do now.”

“If there’s nothing else, please stop disturbing my life.”

Camden’s knuckles turned white from how tightly he clenched his fists.

“I’m sorry…”

His voice was rough.

“What happened ten years ago… I was a bastard.”

The old Camden never apologized.

Whenever I broke down and questioned him, he had always acted justified, too arrogant to

even bother explaining himself.

Now, hearing this apology so many years too late only made me feel dazed.

“I know.”

I smiled faintly.

“But there’s no need. Compared to an apology, I’d rather we stayed strangers forever.”

The dismissal couldn’t have been more obvious.

Yet Camden still stood there pale-faced, like he’d been nailed to the floor.

The bell above the door rang again.

Ryker walked in.

Behind him was a woman.

I nodded politely.

“Queen Macy.”

Macy’s eyes reddened instantly.

“Paisley…”

Her voice shook.

“Why won’t you call me Mom anymore?”

She stumbled toward me, trying to pull me into a hug, but I quietly stepped aside.

Her hand froze awkwardly in midair, trembling slightly.

“You still hate us, don’t you?”

Behind her, Ryker shut his eyes in pain.

I kept smiling.

“You’re overthinking it. I just never forgot a single word the two of you said back then.”

That snowy night, they had been standing outside Camden’s estate too.

They watched as the guards pinned me face-first into the snow with my arms twisted behind

my back.

They heard Camden say the words burn her alive.

I had reached toward them with hands blackened by sunlight burns, my voice hoarse as I

cried out:

“Mom.”

“Brother.”

But they stepped back half a pace, avoiding the blood on my hands.

“Paisley, this is getting ugly.”

“Stop calling us that. You’re not the Vampire Princess anymore.”

“You murdered our father. The fact that you’re still alive is mercy enough.”

Then my mother had looked away and said coldly,

“From now on… just pretend we never had a daughter.”

The fury of betrayal surged through me all over again.

“It was you people who poisoned our father and framed me for it!”

I stared at them, my voice shaking.

“You, Ryker. You murdered Father to take the throne!”

“You, Camden. You came up with the idea because you wanted to marry the legitimate

Vampire Princess!”

“And you, Veda. You made everyone believe I did it!”

Finally, I looked at Macy.

“And you just stood there and watched all of it happen!”

“You were the ones who killed Father! Not me!”

The air froze.

Macy nearly collapsed on the spot, only staying upright because Ryker caught her in time.

That was when I finally got a good look at her.

Ten years had passed.

The once elegant Vampire Queen now had gray streaks at her temples, and endless grief

carved deep into her exhausted eyes.

Ryker’s voice turned hoarse.

“It was my fault… I failed you.”

He swallowed hard.

“But Mom has thought about you every single day all these years.”

“We’re still your family. Blood doesn’t disappear just because you want it to.”

“Even if you can’t forgive us right now… at least give me a chance to make it up to you.”

“That’s not true!”

Riley suddenly rushed out from the kitchen and wrapped herself tightly around my arm.

“Paisley already has me!”

She glared at them fiercely.

“I’m her real family!”
