The Hybrid King’s Secret Mate Chapter 03

The Hybrid King’s Secret Mate Chapter 03

I froze where I stood.

For a second, I honestly thought I was trapped inside some twisted nightmare.

But the pain tearing through my chest was too real.

I rushed forward and yanked the two of them apart, white roses scattering across the ground.

Then I slapped Camden across the face with all my strength.

He didn’t dodge.

But the moment I turned toward Veda, Camden suddenly grabbed my wrist and shoved me away hard.

I stumbled backward and crashed onto the grass.

Sharp gravel sliced open my palm instantly.

Yet Camden only pulled Veda protectively behind him, his voice turning ice cold.

“Veda is your sister.”

“What gives you the right to touch her?”

His eyes were filled with disgust.

“Paisley, look at yourself.”

“You look insane.”

Veda hid in his arms, crying softly.

“I’m sorry, Paisley…”

Her voice trembled weakly.

“But Camden and I truly love each other.”

“If we hadn’t been switched at birth, I would’ve been the one to meet him first.”

“The one who formed a blood bond with him should’ve been me from the beginning.”

Her lips were still wet from Camden’s kiss.

“I can apologize to you,” she whispered tearfully, “but I can’t give Camden back.”

Something inside me snapped completely.

I grabbed a stone statue nearby and hurled it toward them.

I cursed them with every vicious word I knew.

Camden only let out a cold laugh.

“You seriously need psychiatric help.”

By the time Mother and my brother arrived, I was already falling apart.

The moment they saw me standing there disheveled and hysterical, both of them frowned immediately.

“Paisley. Stop this.”

My brother’s face was full of impatience.

“Veda is your sister. Do you really have to make things this ugly?”

They stood together on the same side.

Cold.

Annoyed.

Disappointed.

And me?

I stood opposite them with tangled hair, muddy clothes, bleeding hands…

Like some pathetic lunatic.

That was the moment I finally realized something.

I had already lost.

But I refused to accept it.

I ran to Camden’s residence and screamed outside his locked gates for hours.

Crying.

Begging.

Demanding answers.

Then finally, the upstairs window opened.

Camden looked down at me expressionlessly.

“If you keep harassing Veda,” he said coldly, “I’ll apply for a restraining order.”

Unwillingness wrapped around my heart like poison ivy.

Slowly suffocating me.

I found tabloid writers and exposed Camden for betrayal.

I publicly accused Veda of knowingly stealing her sister’s mate.

I protested outside Camden’s home like a madwoman.

I wanted everyone to know the truth.

That the hybrid warrior I protected and raised with my own hands…

Was a heartless traitor.

But in the end, royal vampire guards dragged me back to the castle.

I smashed everything in sight.

I even pressed a silver stake against my own throat.

And all I got in return was a brutal slap across the face from my brother.

“Paisley, are you done embarrassing yourself yet?”

His voice thundered through the room.

“You stole twenty years of Veda’s life.”

“All of this should’ve belonged to her in the first place!”

After that, they locked me inside the castle basement.

Every day, someone shoved a tiny blood pack through the crack beneath the door.

That was all I got.

I burned in betrayal. Burned in hunger. The craving for blood tortured me until I could barely think straight.

Darkness and silence slowly sanded away every sharp edge inside me.

Until one day…

The iron door finally opened.

Camden stood there against the light.

Tall.

Cold.

Untouchable.

“The marriage approval came through,” he said calmly.

Then he looked down at me.

“By order of the Vampire King…”

“Princess Paisley Rhodes.”

“I’ll marry you.”
