The Girl Who Was His Replacement for Nine Years Finally Left Him Chapter 11

My life wasn’t going to change just because Matteo had shown up.

The peace I’d finally found didn’t last long.

One morning, while the shop was packed with customers, a woman in a bright red dress stormed

through the door.

Her hair was a mess, and her eyes burned with pure hatred.

It was Chloe.

The second she saw me, she pointed straight at me and started screaming.

“Blair, you shameless bitch! You left, so why can’t you stay gone? How dare you keep hanging

around Matteo? Don’t you have any dignity?”

Every customer in the shop froze and turned to look.

I didn’t stop stirring my coffee. I didn’t even look up.

“Ma’am, you’ve got the wrong person. My name isn’t Blair, and I don’t know you. If you cause any more trouble in my shop, I’m calling the police.”

“The police?”

Chloe laughed sharply, as if I’d just told the funniest joke in the world.

“You think I’m scared of the police? Listen to me, Blair. Matteo is mine! Don’t think you can use a few cheap tricks to steal him back from me!”

She lunged toward the display case, reaching out to knock over the trays of pastries.

I stepped aside and grabbed the phone from the counter, already reaching for the dial.

Before I could make the call, a dark figure charged through the door.

A hand clamped around Chloe’s wrist.

The grip was so hard it looked like he could crush her bones.

Chloe screamed in pain. Then she turned her head.

The instant she saw Matteo, her entire expression changed.

Tears spilled down her cheeks.

“Matteo! You’re finally here! This woman attacked me! She even threatened to call the police on/ me!”

Matteo stared at her with ice–cold eyes.

There wasn’t a trace of warmth in them.

“Who told you to come here?” His voice was dangerously calm. “Didn’t I make myself clear? You

are never to come near her again.”

Chloe’s sobbing stopped.

Panic flashed across her face.

“Matteo, I’m sorry. I was just so desperate to see you. I…”

“Enough.”

Matteo cut her off without a hint of patience.

Then he glanced at the men waiting behind him.

“Take her away. Do what Blair asked before. Turn her over to the police.”

He paused.

“And send them everything we’ve collected on Chloe. The fraud, the assaults, the evidence that she

ordered other people to commit crimes. All of it.”

His men moved immediately.

They grabbed Chloe and dragged her toward the door.

Her face went white.

She fought like a wild animal, screaming Matteo’s name over and over.

But Matteo didn’t even spare her another glance:

Only after Chloe’s voice disappeared down the street did the shop finally fall silent again.

Matteo turned toward me.

There was a cautious, almost pleading look in his eyes.

“Blair, are you okay? Did she scare you? She won’t bother you again. I promise.”

I lowered the phone and looked at him without expression.

“Don Matteo,

thank you for stepping in. But this is my shop. I can handle my own problems. You

don’t need to interfere next time.”
