The Girl the Pack Treated as a Joke Was Actually a Powerful White Wolf Chapter 05

I made it back to the motel.

Biting down on a towel, I pulled the glass from my skin and wrapped the cuts.

My wolf withdrew, battered and slow to heal.

Shivering with fever, unable to stomach food, I lay alone on the bare mattress.

I lost track of time.

Then, my screen flashed.

A text from Nolan.

[Serena is in the hospital. We need to pause and sort this out properly. Don’t do anything reckless until we

talk.]

It didn’t sting anymore.

I wouldn’t take another dime from him.

I opened my accounts, calculating every “favor” he had ever given me until my fingers locked around the ledger and everything went black.

Hours later, the motel maid used her master key when I missed checkout.

Finding me burning with fever and barely conscious, she saw a missed call on my screen and desperately hit

redial to beg for help.

Nothing.

Not a single soul answered.

Inside my soul, my wolf’s amber eyes snapped open.

“I’d rather starve in the wild than beg for their charity.”

I forced my eyes open, catching the trembling cleaner wiping tears from her face.

I pulled my cracked lips into a faint, dry smirk. “I’m okay… I’m still alive. Please, don’t cry.”

As my head cleared, something shifted. My wolf felt strangely light.

The phantom chains anchoring her to Ravenbrook had snapped clean through.

I opened my social feed. The screen was plastered with new posts.

Serena: [Still shaking! Got to wear the Luna crown today!]

Nolan: [Crowning our princess. May you shine forever.]

Dad: [Never left her hospital bedside. Thank God Nolan stepped up for our Serena.]

Mom:[ A certain ungrateful parasite still hasn’t apologized. Don’t bother ever coming home.]

Fine by me.

They just didn’t realize that “parasite” was never coming back.

I pushed myself up and opened my banking app.

I tallied every cent Nolan had ever spent on me, added full interest, and wired the exact total straight to his

account.

Time to leave.

I grabbed my bag and headed for the border checkpoint.

I slid my RCA acceptance letter across the counter.

The guards snapped to attention, pressing their right fists to their chests in a crisp salute. “Congratulations.

Ravenbrook will be honored to welcome you back.”

I crossed the border line without a single glance back.

No one in Ravenbrook was waiting for me, and my future lay straight ahead.

Meanwhile, the pack’s mating pavilion was draped in full ceremonial white.

With the future Luna accepted into RCA, the pack council was riding Nolan hard-he needed to mark and

mate Lyra immediately, before an outside Alpha could lay claim to her at the Academy.

The arrogant Alpha only sneered.

“No. Lyra hasn’t learned her place. She put her sister in the hospital, and she’s been hiding out for four days,

too proud to apologize.”

Serena giggled beside him, leaning into his side.

“Let’s just bait her, Nolan. We’ll pretend to hold the mating ceremony. Once she panics, she’ll come running

back on her knees.”

The photos were posted, the announcements went out, but the crowd was left waiting.

Still, no sign of Lyra.

Nolan paced the altar, his jaw clenching tight.

Then, his phone erupted in a storm of rapid notification pings.

Nolan let out an arrogant breath, the smirk returning to his lips. “See? I told you. It’s Lyra.”

He unlocked the screen.

The smirk froze on his face.
