The Gaming God Hated Clingy Girls Until He Met Me Chapter 01

I fell in love with my brother’s roommate at first sight.

After spending over two weeks putting on a sweet baby voice and trying every trick in the book to flirt with him, I finally found out that he absolutely loathes sugary, overly cute girls.

My whole world shattered instantly. Cracking under the pressure, I stormed into his live stream chat and went completely wild.

[Lmao, honestly, you’re not even my type anyway.]

[Keep acting like a saint, Mr. High and Mighty! I already have a new bae. He’s way hotter and a million times sweeter than you…]

That very night, the golden boy of the gaming world abruptly cut his stream short for the first time in his entire career.

I tried to run, but he caught up with me halfway. As I cried and begged for mercy, the pink ribbon on my dress tore to shreds right in his hands.

“Lily, even a spoiled little girl has to face the consequences when she misbehaves…”

My brother, Chase, used to be an absolute player, but recently, it seemed like he had finally settled down.

He spent every single day holed up in his off-campus apartment, skipping the clubs, steering clear of the bars, and heartlessly turning down invitations from gorgeous girls.

Our parents immediately suspected that Chase was hiding a secret girlfriend in his love nest, terrified that some innocent, sweet girl was being deceived by their rascal of a son.

Naturally, they dispatched me to his apartment to launch a scouting mission.

I rang the doorbell. No one answered.

Losing my patience, I pounded heavily on the door twice.

“Chase, seriously, just how many food deliveries did you order?”

A voice from behind the door echoed—deep, smooth, and chillingly cold.

My heart skipped a beat.

Wow, mom really knows her son. Chase was actually hiding someone in his apartment!

Still, this secret sister-in-law sounded pretty intimidating and hard to approach…

Just as I was grumbling under my breath, the door was suddenly yanked open from the inside.

I tilted my head up, but instead of the stunning, mature woman I had envisioned……

I was met with a face so breathtakingly handsome it left me completely speechless.

The guy stood at a towering six-foot-three. He had a pale, porcelain complexion and sharp, chiseled features, practically radiating an aura of cold aloofness that kept everyone at a distance.

He had perfectly defined muscles, a subtly dominant presence that couldn’t be ignored, and an effortless air of luxury that even his casual loungewear couldn’t hide.

I froze, completely mesmerized, unable to even blink.

At the same time, a wave of shock hit me. Had my brother actually stepped up his game and brought home a total alpha male as my brother-in-law?

But seriously, every single pore on this gorgeous man was ticking all my boxes.

He was so captivating that only one wild thought remained in my head.

An absolute masterpiece like this has to be mine.

Otherwise, what’s even the point of living?

If he really is my brother’s boyfriend, whatever—Chase and I can just play fair and compete for him…

“Hi there! I’m Chase’s sister, Lily Miller.” I flashed him a dazzlingly sweet smile and introduced myself with absolute charm.

My mom is a total sucker for good looks; she’s a beauty herself, and my dad is a top-tier silver fox. Fortunately, I inherited the best genes from both of them. Growing up, countless adults and classmates always gushed about how my eyes crinkled into perfect little crescents whenever I smiled, saying it could melt anyone’s heart.

But right now, even though my face was practically aching from smiling so hard, the man’s expression remained as frosty and unbothered as ever.

He cast a fleeting glance at my pleated skirt and thigh-high socks, then stepped aside to clear a path, offering a brutally brief explanation.

“Chase is in the shower. I’m his friend.”

Just a friend…

I let out a massive sigh of relief.

Thank goodness, he wasn’t the boyfriend…

Once I sat down, the man handed me a cold can of LaCroix.

Seizing the opportunity, I deliberately let my fingers brush against his palm as I took the can, my voice automatically sliding into a soft, breathy baby voice, “You’re so incredibly handsome. I bet your name sounds just as beautiful.”

“Ethan Sterling,” he answered flatly after a brief pause.

He looked slightly caught off guard, as if he hadn’t expected this seemingly quiet, introverted girl to be so bold and direct.

“Oh my gosh, what a coincidence! A psychic told me that my future husband would have that exact name.” My eyes lit up with excitement.

“Ethan, it’s literally fate. Can I get your Snapchat or number…?”

Ethan hesitated for a moment, brow furrowing slightly, before unlocking his phone and handing it over to let her put her number in.

“Don’t fall for that nonsense. Whoever read your fortune is a fraud. You shouldn’t waste your time with them anymore.”

Well… way to completely kill the romantic vibe in a single sentence…

But I refused to back down. “Since you’re so amazing, the girls chasing you must be lined up around the block, right?”

Ethan didn’t show even a hint of pride or amusement at my adoration. His tone remained perfectly level. “Not really.”

“Then can I be first in line?” I softened my voice, gently tugging at his arm in a playful pout, making my gaze look as sincere as possible.

Ethan lifted his heavy eyelids slightly. “Distractions like this will only tank your GPA…”

Wait, what?!

I had been flirting with him for ages, and this entire time, the god of gaming thought I was some underage high schooler?!

What an absolute insult!

I sat up straight and proudly squared my shoulders. “Ethan, I’m literally in college.”

I put a very deliberate emphasis on the word “college.”

Then, using the excuse that it was getting warm, I slipped off my pastel bunny-pattern jacket.

As expected, my calculated movement drew Ethan’s gaze, his eyes darting to a certain spot.

But in the very next second, he quickly looked away, his expression remaining perfectly calm. “I’ll go grab the remote for the AC.”

The rejection only fueled my competitive spirit. I nudged a bit closer to him, catching a subtle hint of his clean, fresh-out-of-the-shower cologne from his collar.

“No need, Ethan. Cranking up the AC isn’t exactly eco-friendly. Besides, you already feel so delightfully chilly, why don’t we just…”

Right at that perfect moment, Chase walked out in his bathrobe, plopping his massive frame right between Ethan and me, completely cutting me off.

“I’ll leave you two siblings to catch up,” Ethan said, standing up and politely retreating into his own bedroom.

I instinctively wanted to follow him, but Chase held me back.

I could only catch a brief glimpse of Ethan’s room, where his massive PC monitor was glowing brightly with a gaming interface.
