The Forgotten Princess Who Became a Lycan Warrior Chapter 07

After Beta Luke left, an unsettling silence settled over the packhouse.

Lydia’s admission letter still lay open on the coffee table.

Just moments ago, everyone had been gathered around it, smiling.

Now, no one spared it another glance.

Alpha Derek was the first to react. He grabbed his car keys and headed for the door.

“We’re going to the school. I want to know exactly where she enrolled.”

Luna Megan hurried after him, her steps unsteady.

Hunter and Aaron followed as well. Only Lydia remained on the couch, her face deathly pale.

She wanted to stop them. Her lips parted, but in the end, no words came out.

School was already out for the break. Only Ms. Scott remained in the office.

When she saw all of them walk in together, she didn’t look surprised.

It was as though she had been expecting this day.

Luna Megan rushed forward, “Ms. Scott, where did Jenna go? Did she deliberately keep it from us?”

Ms. Scott looked at her for a long moment before speaking.

“Jenna is an adult. If she chose not to tell you, it isn’t my place to tell you either.”

Alpha Derek’s expression darkened.

“We’re her parents! How could she keep something as important as her college application from us?”

Ms. Scott set the papers in her hands down.

Her voice turned noticeably colder.

“The day she submitted her applications, I asked whether she wanted to discuss them with her Alpha and Luna one more time.”

“She told me there was no need. ‘My family already made that decision for me once.'”

The room fell silent.

Luna Megan’s face turned pale.

She suddenly remembered that day.

Jenna had been sitting alone in the armchair at the edge of the room, her fingers digging into her palm, her eyes red with unshed tears.

Yet all she had cared about was making sure Jenna didn’t apply to schools in the Realm.

She hadn’t even let her finish revealing her rank.

Ms. Scott continued, “Jenna had a very difficult year. She lived on sandwiches most of the time. She was so pale it was worrying.”

“Her allowance wasn’t enough, so she worked part-time constantly.”

More than once she suffered heat exhaustion while handing out flyers. She even injured her forehead.”

“I asked her why she didn’t tell her parents. She said it wouldn’t make any difference.”

Luna Megan’s lips trembled.

She wanted to argue. But not a single word came out.

Finally, Ms. Scott pulled out another form.

“This is the financial aid application Jenna submitted when she applied for a scholarship and a campus job.”

“Under family financial support, she wrote: ‘No stable financial support from family.'”

“Unfortunately, the application was denied because your family isn’t considered low-income.”

She paused before adding quietly, “After all, no one would ever imagine that the Alpha and Luna of the Greenwood Pack would treat their own daughter this way.”

The office fell into a deathly silence.

She was right. The pack wasn’t poor. Alpha Derek ruled the pack.

Luna Megan owned three clothing boutiques that generated nearly six figures in revenue every month.

She casually rewarded her younger daughter with luxury handbags and fifty thousand dollars in spending money.

Meanwhile, their eldest daughter had been forgotten in a run-down apartment for an entire year.

After leaving the school, they drove straight to Jenna’s apartment.

The landlady was cleaning the room when they arrived.

She looked surprised to see them, “Are you looking for that girl? She moved out a while ago.”

Luna Megan’s face immediately turned pale, “Did she tell you where she was going?”

The landlady shook her head, “No.”

“She cleaned the place thoroughly before she left and even left the keys on the table.”

“The only things she left behind were a few little dolls. They looked so pitiful that I couldn’t bring myself to throw them away.”

She walked to a cabinet and returned with a cardboard box.

Inside sat four handmade dolls, lined up neatly.

Dad. Mom. Hunter. Aaron.

The fabric had faded with age. The stitching was uneven.

It was obvious Jenna had sewn every one of them herself.

The moment Luna Megan saw them, tears spilled down her cheeks.

For an entire year, they had abandoned Jenna in that shabby apartment. Yet she had made little versions of them to keep her company.

They had eaten with her. Slept beside her. Listened to her talk when no one else would.

Aaron stood silently beside the desk.

Something sticking out of the trash can caught his eye.

He bent down and picked it up.

It was half of a torn postcard.

Printed on it was Divine Eye Lake at Eclipse Warrior Institute.

In the lower right corner was his own handwriting: [Jenna, I’ll be waiting for you at Eclipse Warrior Institute.]

Aaron’s fingers trembled violently.

The other half was trapped beneath the leg of the desk. He crouched down and awkwardly pulled it free.

Carefully, he pressed the two halves back together.

But the tear running through the middle refused to disappear.

No matter how hard he tried, it would never be whole again.

Just like the mate bond between him and Jenna.

It had already been torn apart by his own hands.
