The Female Hybrid Everyone Hated Chapter 08

The Female Hybrid Everyone Hated Chapter 08

The Hollow Tower was where I had been dragged to.

I have been here before.

Years ago Aldric had brought me here himself – not as a prisoner but as a patient. Back when my hybrid nature first began destabilizing and neither my wolf side nor my vampire side could find balance. He had been gentle then.

He had said this place would help me.

It did not feel like help now.

The room they put me in was thirty paces wide and twenty paces long. Stone walls. One narrow window ser too high to reach without effort. A bed that was more slab than mattress. A door with three locks that I could hear being turned from the outside every single time.

Four nurses watched me at all hours. In rotating shifts. Never speaking. Just watching.

I had never felt so observed and so completely invisible at the same time.

The wolfsbane injections came every hour on the hour.

I felt the first one like a fire spreading from my arm through my entire chest – my wolf side recoiling. shrinking, going quiet in a way that felt less like sleep and more like suffocation. By the third injection I could barely feel her at all. That steady warm growl that had lived underneath my ribs for twenty five years just gone. Muffled behind glass I couldn’t break.

Without my wolf side my vampire instincts rushed in to fill the space.

That was worse.

The hunger started slowly. A dull ache at the back of my throat. Then sharper. Then consuming. I hadn’t eaten in over eight hours and food wasn’t what my body was asking for anymore. My veins felt hollow.

My vision kept sharpening at the wrong moments – every time a nurse moved too close I could hear her pulse like a drumbeat in a quiet room.

“Claire what’s going on, why am I feeling hungry….for blood”

“Your body is compensating,” Claire said. Not cheerfully. Just factually. “With your wolf side suppressed, your vampire half is becoming dominant. You need blood Yara. Soon.”

I know.

“If you don’t feed the hunger will override everything else. You won’t be in control of what happens next.”

I said I know Claire.

She went quiet.

I pressed my back against the cold stone wall and pulled my knees to my chest and breathed through it. In.

Out. In. Out. I counted the stones in the ceiling. I counted them again.

I regretted attacking Rose.

Not because she didn’t deserve it. She deserved far worse.

But because she had wanted exactly that. She had built the trap and I had walked into it with my eyes blazing gold and my hands at her throat like she had scripted it herself. I had handed her everything she needed to put me here.

“You fell right into it,” Rose had whispered into my ears sounding extremely pleased with her plan.

Yes. I had.

I fucked up big time.

On the second day the pain that struck me was one I had never felt before.

It felt out of the world, my whole body vibrated, my soul felt like it was being ripped apart, I vomited blood despite no physical pain being inflicted in me.

Dark blood came out from my eyes, ears, mouth and nose in a painful way.

In less than a minute I was drenched in sweat, my heart beat was beating like it was about to burst.

“ARGHHHHH” I shouted at the top of my voice and fell to the ground.

That was where I laid down till my torture was gone and I had cried my eyes out.

“What…what the hell was.. that Claire?”

“That. That is the punishment for the end of the bargain that hadn’t been fulfilled.”

“God it felt like hell. I’m going to kill myself I just to find a way that works. Please it hurt terribly”

“I’m sorry Yara, some things are out of my hand. That’s the deal set in this world, even I can’t reset it”

For the first time I believed her. Because I knew she felt my pain and was comforting me.

I just had to find a way to kill myself, i never want to experience such again.

I tried insulting my way out of the pain.

Aldric came to check my vitals himself — he wouldn’t trust the nurses with a hybrid’s deteriorating condition, which was the only thing left in him that resembled the man I had once spent years trying to reach.

He was checking the wolfsbane levels in my blood when I spoke.

“How is it,” I said quietly, “watching her marry someone else?”

His hand stilled.

“You know I’m talking about Rose,” I continued. “Your great love. Your precious patient who needed you.

Guess what she fucking picked Dorian. Not you. She never even considered you.” I tilted my head “Tell me Aldric, does that keep you up at night? Knowing you destroyed me for a woman who never wanted you?”

“She is using you, using you all yet you all are blind to see that”

The silence in the room was absolute.

Aldric set down his instrunients with great care. Turned to face me. His expression was locked/so tightly I could only see the anger in his eyes – deep and barely restrained and pointed directly at me,

“Don’t,” he said.

“Why not?” I held his gaze. “You told me my pain was fake. You screamed it at me. So this is me returning the favor. At least I’m not pretending yours doesn’t exist.”

“So shut your mouth!!”

Something cracked behind his eyes.

His hand came up and I felt it before I saw it – a warlock’s spell hitting me like a fist, bursting pressure behind my eyes and through my skull, the kind of magic I had only ever seen used on vampires in the oldest texts. Blood vessels straining. White light splitting my vision.

I screamed.

I couldn’t help it. It was involuntary – the sound tearing out of me before I could bite it back.

When it stopped I was on the floor. My nose was bleeding. My ears were ringing.

Aldric stood over me breathing hard, his composure completely gone for the first time.

The nurses hadn’t moved. They just watched.

“Well that was effective but he wouldn’t kill you,” Claire said faintly.

I wiped the blood from my lip with the back of my hand and then I slipped a paint of blood to a hidden spot.

“Oh I see now..”

That was the target all his while. I knew well enough to know once he is pissed he loses his cool and this was the only way to steal the blood from him.

He shouted again scattered his healing tools, he smashed a glass on the floor, grabbed my face, and squeezed.

“Yara, don’t think you can scare us with this act.”

“I’m telling you, even if you die, no one will miss you.”

I grabbed his hand and looked at him with desperate eyes.

“Then please let me die.”

“I want to die. I want to get away from all of you all!!!” I shouted at the top of my voice and damn I meant it down to my bone.

Then a deep voice from outside spoke and interrupted us.

“What did fuck you just say?”

Dorian who was standing in the doorway uttered.
