The Fake Wedding Was For Me, The Real One For Her Chapter 04

The Fake Wedding Was For Me, The Real One For Her Chapter 04

“So you’re telling me-these souls can actually be permanently split apart?”

They ushered him in, crowding around him like he held the answer to everything. I stayed in the corner and

listened.

“It can be done.”

“The first option: send the trespassing soul back to her original dimension.”

“No!” Arthur, Mom, and Dad – all three of them, in the same breath.

“We are not sending Chloe back to that hellhole. Absolutely not.”

“Then there’s only one alternative.” The spiritualist let the silence stretch before continuing.

“The visiting soul claims permanent ownership of this body. Your daughter goes somewhere else.”

“One soul, one body. A permanent eviction.”

The room went dead quiet. One by one, every pair of eyes found me.

I wasn’t afraid. For the first time in a lifetime, the suffocating knot in my chest unraveled.

I’d found him by accident recently. He was the one who revealed there was a way out of this.

He could sever the tether, he said-but only one soul could survive the process in this realm.

Chloe had told me once, sobbing, what her world was like-a war-torn wasteland, starving on the streets, a

life of sheer misery.

So I’d never once considered condemning her back to that hell. And back then, I still had a fiancé I couldn’t

bear to leave.

But today shattered that delusion. The love I’d been clinging to-from Julian, from my own flesh and blood-

none of it had ever been real.

Nobody wanted me here. So I was done fighting for them.

“Wait-if we send Clara away, can she ever return?” Julian cut in, his voice tight.

“It’s possible. But I’m not strong enough to do it quickly-reversing the separation would take a few years of

spiritual realignment.”

“Then we bring her back in a few years.” Julian didn’t even hesitate.

Arthur actually hesitated-a rare crack in his ruthless demeanor-and glanced at Julian.

“But Chloe said her world was an active war zone. She was a beggar…”

“That was ages ago!” Dad’s voice lifted. “I’m sure the wars are over by now!”

“Clara is a grown woman-she’s just relocating. She’ll adapt!”

“Exactly!” Mom was already weeping-not for me, but tears of absolute, selfish relief.

“Years of uninterrupted peace with a perfect, normal daughter.”

A normal daughter. I watched my parents-my own parents-and my fingers drifted to my mute throat.

Right. Defective goods like me should have been discarded a long time ago.

“Clara.” Julian caught my gaze. A flicker of genuine guilt crossed his face before he closed the distance and grabbed my hand.

“Just hold on over there. Give it a few years. I’ll bring you back. I swear.”

I smiled at him. Hollow and utterly dead.

“Okay,” I mouthed.

I slipped my hand out of his grasp. Julian’s expression faltered, hit by a sudden wave of inexplicable panic.

He stared at me, frantically searching my face for reassurance, but words failed him.

The spiritualist began the ritual. The moment my soul started tearing away from my physical form, the agony hit me like being skinned alive.

I collapsed to the floor in a silent, thrashing scream, clawing at the carpet-and not a single person turned to

look at me.

They all stood with their backs turned-whether out of guilt or sheer apathy-already discussing what designer gifts to buy Chloe when she woke up.

“I’ve initiated the transfer,” the spiritualist’s voice echoed in my mind. “But I must ask one final time-are you

absolutely certain?”

“You’re a modern girl being thrown into a brutal, primitive era. You won’t survive a single season.”

The final seal was ready. He searched my agonizing expression for any regret. I gave him a definitive nod.

My family had no idea. The timeline he gave them was a complete fabrication-my lie.

Once the soul was severed, the process was permanent. There was no ‘few years’. There was no coming back. I was leaving this realm forever.

“So be it.” The spiritualist exhaled heavily and raised his hands.

White light swallowed the room. Then everything went dark.

When I finally regained consciousness, my vision was swimming. Frantic voices buzzed around me, but the

words were a garbled mess.

I forced my eyes open, bracing myself for a war-torn slum of rubble and rot-and completely froze.

There were no bombed-out streets. No starving beggars. Instead, I saw silk-draped canopy beds, intricately carved mahogany pillars, and a breathtaking ceiling fit for royalty.

“Princess Seraphina-thank the gods, you’re finally awake!”

I turned my head, barely daring to breathe. And in a world far behind me, Chloe opened her eyes-her soul permanently locked into my body.

But the expressions on the family staring back at her had gone dead white.
