“Ricardo, do you hate me bossing you around?” 

“No. I like it.” 

“Do you hate me making you drink milk?” 

“No. I like it.” 

“Do you hate me touching you?” 

“No. I like it.” 

“Then do you hate me?” 

“I love you.” 

If that morning I had only started to doubt whether the comments were true, now I could say without hesitation that they were deliberately creating conflict and driving us apart. 

Damn comments. 

I had only cursed them halfway when someone hooked an arm around my waist and pulled me back. 

When morning came, my body woke before my mind did. 

I looked beside me. 

Ricardo was still asleep. 

Most of the blanket had been stolen by me, leaving him only a pitiful little corner. 

I propped myself up, and his arm slowly slid off my waist. 

He seemed to be sleeping deeply, his hair scattered over the 

pillow, soft and defenseless. 

After watching him for a while, I couldn’t resist pushing him. 

Ricardo lifted his head sleepily. 

He looked dazed for a moment before his black eyes slowly 

cleared. 

When he saw me clearly, his face went blank. 

I bit my lip. 

“Can you get up first?” 

Ricardo finally seemed to react. 

His neck and ears burned bright red, impossible to miss. 

After he finally got up, I stepped onto the floor and my legs 

went weak. 

An arm crossed my waist and lifted me, carrying me silently toward the bathroom. 

After putting me down, he was about to leave. 

I kicked him unhappily. 

“You’re just leaving? It’s all your… mmph!” 

Ricardo covered my mouth at once, his reddened eyelids trembling. 

“Don’t say it. Please.” 

Even after I showered and got dressed, Ricardo still didn’t dare 

look at me. 

“I’m sorry.” 

I swallowed the bun in my mouth. 

“And then?” 

“I’ll give you any compensation you want.” 

I wiped my mouth. 

“What if I want you to never appear in front of me again?” 

The color drained from his face instantly. 

After a long while, he forced out one low word. 

“Okay.” 

I threw a pillow at him. 

Under his stunned gaze, I yanked open his shirt and ran my 

fingers over the moon tattoo on his chest. 

“T–M. Don’t tell me this stands for Tecla Mariani.” 

His eyes snapped up. 

“Of course not.” 

“Then it’s mine?” 

I raised the ends of my eyes. 

“Ricky, what does it mean that you tattooed my name here?” 

Thump. 

Thump. 

Thump. 

His heartbeat was so strong beneath my fingertips that it 

nearly numbed them. 

But he lowered his head. 

“I’m sorry. I’ll… get it removed.” 

… Huh? 

Damn comments. 

They had turned my perfectly good brother into an avoidant 

mess. 

I gritted my teeth and dragged his hand to my lower stomach. 

“What if there’s already your baby in here?” 

His palm went rigid. 

Ricardo’s eyes turned red, and his lips trembled slightly. 

“I’m sorry. I’ll… I’ll go buy the pill.” 

When he stood, he swayed and almost fell. 

I choked, then called him back. 

“Ricardo.” 

He turned back, defeated, only for his pupils to suddenly shrink. 

I pulled away from his lips and looked at him softly. 

“I was asking if you wanted to marry me and be with me for the rest of our lives.” 

Ricardo looked like he hadn’t processed it. 

“Marry… for the rest of our lives…” 

I told him about the comments. 

The more he listened, the deeper his frown became, until the 

veins at his temples throbbed with anger. 

“A few months ago, Tecla transferred into my lab. Her little uncle used to be one of my Sottocapo. He was injured protecting me during a shootout and asked me to keep an eye on her because her health wasn’t good.” 

“On the day you cut your hair, Tecla’s condition acted up in the lab and she knocked over some chemicals. By the time I rushed over to handle it, her little uncle had already taken her away.” 

“I didn’t come home for a long time because of an urgent lab project. I was leaving early and coming back late. I had no time for concerts or aquariums.” 

“And other than you, I have no interest in going to those places with anyone.” 

“And that night, the cocktails and the tank top… they were all 

for you. There was never anyone else.” 

After saying that, he seemed embarrassed and turned his head slightly away. 

My eyes shone. 

“Ricky, when did you realize you liked me?” 

He pressed his lips together. 

“I used to think I only saw you as my sister. Later, every time I saw you, my heart beat too fast. That was when I knew.” 

“I was afraid you’d be disgusted, so I never dared say it.” 

“I didn’t dare look at you in photos because I was afraid one look would expose me. I didn’t dare let you hug me because I was afraid I wouldn’t want to let go.” 

“I planned to tell you after you went to college, then wait for 

you to accept it slowly.” 

I blinked. 

“What if I fell for someone else?” 

He gave me a cold look. 

“I’d drag you back and lock you up.” 

I shuddered. 

Then I suddenly remembered something and tried to climb off his lap. 

Ricardo grabbed my phone, tapped a few times, and shoved it into my hand. 

“Break up with your little boyfriend. Now.” 

“Little boyfriend? Are you talking about Marino?” 

He didn’t deny it. 

Laughing and crying at the same time, I told him Marino had a boyfriend. 

Ricardo’s face darkened, and he pinched my cheeks before 

kissing me hard. 

“Then you still aren’t allowed to hug him all the time, and you’re not allowed to casually go to his place.” 

When we returned home, everyone saw Ricardo and me holding hands and didn’t seem surprised. 

As if we had always been meant to be like this. 

The next day, Tecla’s grandparents, uncles, and relatives from 

the Marianni family all arrived in Naples. 

Just as Tecla said, the Marianni family was warm and close. 

They felt like a gentle embrace wrapping around me. 

Halfway through, I went to the restroom and accidentally saw two figures tangled on the balcony. 

I had only taken one step closer when I suddenly heard Tecla’s furious voice. 

“Zio Chen, you dare… mmph!” 

Then came a sound too hard to describe. 

A pair of hands suddenly reached from behind to cover my ears 

and lift me away. 

I scratched at Ricardo’s arm. 

“Her little uncle and Tecla, they… they…” 

Ricardo looked calm, as if he had known all along. 

I was deeply shocked. 

A while later, when I saw Tecla return to the banquet with nothing wrong except slightly red lips, I finally felt relieved. 

At the end of the month, when C University’s admission notice arrived, I suddenly remembered the whole thing. 

Crying, I called Ricardo. 

“Maybe I should repeat the year and apply to H University instead. C University is too far. Sob.” 

On the other end came the sound of a door closing, as if he had moved somewhere quiet. 

“Leaving distance aside, do you want to go to C University?” 

C University was just as highly ranked as H University, and my chosen major was even stronger there. 

I twisted my sleeve. 

“C University is pretty good…” 

Ricardo said flatly, “Then go.” 

After hanging up, I remembered his indifferent tone, and my chest felt tight. 

That night, when Ricardo came home, he dug me out from under the blanket. 

“What’s wrong?” 

Seeing him act as if nothing had happened only made me angrier. 

I shoved him away. 

“Take off your clothes and go kneel on the bed.”
