The Evil Ex Wife Was Just Acting Chapter 10

The Evil Ex Wife Was Just Acting Chapter 10

Caleb handed me a stack of cash and a key.

“We’re not living here anymore. We’re moving.”

I was confused.

Did Caleb start rising after Serena appeared?

The System did not stop this move.

Only after moving in did I realize Serena lived upstairs and was

now our neighbor.

On moving day, she held a bouquet and gave it to Caleb.

Her eyes were full of affection.

“Happy housewarming.”

Caleb glanced at me, his brows tightening.

I tactfully returned to the bedroom.

But the System spoke at that moment.

“The male lead and heroine have met. They need to build their

relationship from now on. You should run off with a rich guy.”

I was speechless.

“We just moved into a new place. If I run now, right after our life gets better, doesn’t that go against logic?”

The System said, “Don’t rush. New task reminder. Insult the

new place harshly. Hurt Caleb and make Serena pity him.”

I rolled up my sleeves and went all in.

I kicked the suitcase.

“Caleb, this is all you’re capable of? I thought we were leaving the garage apartment to move into a big house.”

“What the hell is this place? It’s the size of a shoebox. It can’t

even fit my clothes.”

“Being with you means I can only live in a place like this.”

Serena’s eyes widened. She seemed frightened by me and set

the flowers down in a panic before leaving.

Caleb lowered his head.

“I’m sorry.”

I was so angry I wanted to kick the wall. But when I saw the white paint, I pulled my foot back.

“What’s the point of saying sorry? Can it give me a good life?”

“You’re useless.”

I answered my phone, changed my expression, and said gently, “Okay, I’ll be right there.”

Caleb anxiously stopped me, his eyes full of hurt.

“Can you… not go?”

The System shouted wildly.

“Now. Run. Bring back a rich man and throw divorce papers at

him.”

“Then your task will be complete.”

I shook off Caleb’s hand and ran out without looking back.

That phone call just now had been an alarm.

I asked the System whether I could run away alone instead of

with a rich man.

The System said running away alone had no angst beat.

So I quickly spent a lot of money online to find someone known as Hollywood Rico, allegedly an excellent actor.

When I came back, I had changed into designer clothes and carried a designer bag.

They had cost a fortune.

I sat in Hollywood Rico’s supercar.

Hollywood Rico wore a chunky gold chain and opened the car

door for me.

He even tried to put his arm around me, but I pushed him

away with a laugh.

Caleb stared hard at Hollywood Rico’s hand.

Hollywood Rico glanced at me, then looked Caleb over with

contempt.

“Little broke boy, a wife this beautiful should be spoiled with designer everything. You don’t deserve her.”

“I’ll wait in the car, babe.”

He threw me a wink.

I was so embarrassed my toes could dig a mansion out of the

floor.

No wonder he had been an extra his whole life. This acting was

way too over the top.

I threw the divorce papers at Caleb.

Caleb did not even look at them. He came over and hugged me.

His eyes were red, and his hands trembled slightly.

“If you leave, what about Noah? What about me?”

“Don’t go. Wait for me. Soon, we’ll be able to…”

I interrupted him.

“Caleb, I don’t want to live a hard life with you anymore.”

Caleb froze instantly. Even his normally straight back seemed

to bend.

The System sobbed in my head.

“So painful. Caleb and his son must feel humiliated, heartbroken, and full of hatred for you.”

“Good. You, the cruel ex–wife, can exit the stage. The male

lead Caleb’s pain will be healed by the heroine.”

“When he gets drunk in despair, Serena will comfort his

broken heart.”

I left in the sports car.

Behind me, Noah ran out.

He kept chasing the car, crying and shouting for Mom as he

ran.

Caleb chased after Noah.

My heart dropped into an icy lake.

I had specifically chosen a time when Noah should have been

at school.

Why was he back at this hour?

What if he did not see my signal and believed it was real?

Would this leave him with trauma?

My hands clenched tightly, and tears spilled out from anxiety.
