The Eve of Our Forever, He Chose Her Chapter 07

The Eve of Our Forever, He Chose Her Chapter 07 When the Truth Finally Broke

Despite the tidal wave of accusations, I remained calm.

Years of working in this industry had taught me one important habit: always leave a record. My cloud storage still contained everything-time-stamped discussion notes from my studio meetings, scanned copies of my hand- drawn concept sketches, and even voice recordings from brainstorming sessions I’d had with Ethan so I wouldn’t lose ideas.

I organized all the materials into a detailed post and published it on my account.

The evidence was overwhelming.

Within hours, public opinion flipped completely.

Instead of being condemned, my professionalism began earning widespread respect.

But this was only the beginning.

If you pull weeds, you pull them out by the roots.

I wasn’t going to let Maya stir up trouble ever again.

“Ms. Moore,” the private investigator said, handing me a folder. “I discovered something about Maya’s company.”

“A few years ago, a batch of climbing ropes produced by her company had serious safety defects. One climber fell to his death because of it.

“But the Bennett family used their connections to bury the case.

“The victim’s family has never received justice. And beyond that, I found evidence suggesting her company has been selling substandard products while falsely advertising their quality.”

I looked through the documents.

Without hesitation, I submitted the evidence anonymously to major investigative media outlets and consumer safety regulators.

Soon, investigative reports began spreading rapidly online.

Headlines exploded across the internet:

“Deadly Outdoor Gear Cover-Up”

“Safety Violations inside Bennett Adventure Equipment”

Public outrage grew overnight.

A new wave of online backlash hit Maya directly.

Her company was immediately placed under investigation, and the flashy social media accounts she once used to brag about her success were now flooded with criticism.

Daphne, you bitch! I hope you rot in hell!

“You’re just jealous of me! You’re talentless, so you have to use dirty tricks!”

“You deserved to get dumped by Ethan! No one will ever love you!”

“After finishing a day of filming, I returned to the hotel. ”

Just as I walked toward the entrance, someone suddenly rushed out.

It was Maya.

She pointed at my face and began screaming hysterically.

I watched her quietly.

Only after she finally ran out of breath did I speak.

“I’ve always been curious about something,” I said calmly.

“Why do you hate me so much?

“We’ve already broken up. Why are you still targeting me?”

I paused before asking the question directly.

“Is it because you’re in love with Ethan?”

The words froze her completely.

For several seconds she said nothing.

Then she suddenly exploded.

“Yes! I love Ethan!”

Her voice shook with rage.

“Do you know how long I’ve loved him? Since I was old enough to understand what love even meant! Over ten years!

‘I love him so much, but he never loved me back. I thought… maybe just staying by his side would be enough

‘Then you showed up!

“He introduced you as his girlfriend. Later he told us you were going to get married!”

Her eyes burned with hatred.

“He liked you so much. How could I not hate you?”

I considered her words for a moment.

Honestly, Ethan wasn’t nearly as extraordinary as she made him sound

But I finally understood something.

All of this absurd chaos had started from one simple thing-

jealousy from someone who couldn’t have what she wanted. Eventually security arrived and forcibly dragged Maya away.

Her shrill curses echoed down the hallway.

I couldn’t help thinking how people could do such ridiculous things in the name of love.

While I stood there in silence, another figure stumbled out of the crowd.

Ethan.

His face was pale.

He had clearly witnessed the entire confrontation and heard Maya’s confession.

The “unbreakable friendship” he had always believed in had been hiding something far uglier beneath the surface.

“Daphne…” he said weakly.

“I didn’t know. I swear I didn’t know Maya loved me.”

His voice trembled.

He took a few unsteady steps forward.

Then suddenly dropped to his knees in front of me.

‘I’m sorry, Daphne. I’m really sorry.”

His eyes were red.

“I was stupid, I was blind. I didn’t see how much her feelings were hurting you.

“I kept defending her. I kept letting her cross the line. I was an idiot.

“But you have to believe me,” he said desperately. “I really only ever saw her as one of the guys. I never knew she felt that way

He grabbed his hair, looking completely broken.

But I cut him off.

“You didn’t know?” I said quietly.

“Ethan, did you really not know… or did you just choose not to know?

“You liked having her orbit around you under the name of ‘friendship’ You liked the feeling of being needed

“So you chose to stay blind.”

“It’s not that you didn’t see her crossing the line. You simply didn’t care-because you were never the one getting hurt

Ethan’s face turned completely pale.

I sighed and reached down to pull him to his feet.

“We’ve already broken up.

“There’s no point talking about this anymore.”

I looked at him one last time.

“The years I spent with you…

“I’ll just consider them a failed investment.”

Then I turned and walked away.

Behind me, Ethan’s broken sobs echoed through the hallway.

I didn’t look back.
