The Erased S-Rank Daughter Chapter 03

Maisie pushed past me, snatching both envelopes from Mom’s hand first.

Without even glancing at the return addresses, she shoved them deep into a corner of her suitcase.

“Mom, those have Audra’s name on them. I don’t even want to look at them!”

Thank the Moon Goddess. Thank god Maisie was jealous.

Rafe chuckled. “You’re right. Who cares about those letters? As long as you register at Silverfang Academy, that’s all that matters.”

“Right, Audra?”

“Yeah. Whatever you say.”

He stared at me for a moment. Before, I would’ve fought back. Screamed. Howled.

But now? I just smiled.

Later that day, Maisie slunk into my room.

She wrinkled her nose. “God, Audra, your room is filthy. Mine is three times bigger, and it actually gets sunlight.”

I didn’t answer.

I just wanted her to leave.

“Don’t worry though. Once I get into Silverfang Academy and make it big, I’ll toss you a bone. Maybe donate some cash, or help you find a job.”

I took a slow breath. “I don’t need your scraps. Get out.”

She pouted.

Then her eyes fell on the wooden box under my desk.

Before I could stop her, she snatched it up.

“What’s this?”

My heart sank.

She had already pried it open.

“Wait… are these your broken trophies? Audra, are you keeping these to expose me?!”

“Maisie, give it back. I’m not going to expose you.”

She pulled a lighter from her pocket.

“I don’t believe you. I’m not letting you keep this!”

She flicked it on.

“Stop!” I lunged forward and snatched the box from her hands.

This was all I had left–

“Ah!”

Maisie suddenly threw herself backward onto the floor, screaming as if I had just attacked her.

Footsteps thundered down the hallway. Rafe burst in first.

“Maisie!”

He hauled her up. Then he backhanded me across the face–hard enough to make me see white, the taste of blood filling my mouth.

“You hit her?! How dare you!”

I kept my eyes on the floor, my cheek burning.

“I didn’t!”

But he didn’t give a damn about what I had to say.

“Maisie, what happened?”

She sobbed. “I just wanted to look at her box, and she shoved me.”

Mom picked up the broken trophies scattered on the floor.

Her face turned as cold as a frozen lake.

“Audra, why are you keeping these?”

“Are you planning to humiliate Maisie in front of the entire pack?”

I laughed.

It was ridiculous. So ridiculous I couldn’t stop myself.

Rafe ripped the box from my hands and roared right in my face.

“You make me sick.”

Then he pulled out his own lighter and set them ablaze.

“No–don’t–please–”

He shoved me aside. I watched helplessly as every shred of proof that I had once been great burned to ashes.

Then he locked eyes with me.

“Stop trying to ruin her life. You owe her this.”

They left. I sat on the floor, staring at the gray embers.

I scooped them up with my bare hands, even while they were still scorching hot.

My palms blistered, red and swollen, but I didn’t stop. My wolf snarled inside my head, clawing desperately against my ribs.

I hated them.

I hated them so much it choked me.

I had planned to tell them the truth the day I moved into my dorm–that I wasn’t going to Silverfang Academy.

But now?

No.

Let them go.

Let them bring the entire pack along.

Let them brag to the whole damn world!

What look would be on their faces when they realized everything was crumbling around them?

I couldn’t wait to see it.
