The Don’s Regret: His Obedient Donna Is the Lost Heiress! Chapter 10

The Don’s Regret: His Obedient Donna Is the Lost Heiress! Chapter 10

Three years later.

Spring always came late to London.

I wore a pure white wedding dress and stood in the dressing room of St. Orla’s Chapel.

In the mirror, my cheeks were rosy and my eyes were bright. No one could see the exhausted version of me from three years ago anymore.

“Nervous?”

Tavion pushed the door open and walked in. He wrapped his arms around me gently from behind and pressed a kiss to the top of my head.

“Not at all.”

I turned around and straightened the bow tie on his chest.

“As long as you’re the groom, I’m not afraid of anything.”

It was the second time I had said those words, but this time, I had the right person by my side.

Tavion smiled, his eyes full of doting.

The church bells rang. Guests from the Sanzaro family and the Valenwick family filled the entire hall.

I held onto Tavion’s arm and walked step by step down the red carpet toward the priest.

Just as the priest prepared to read the vows —

The heavy church doors suddenly burst open.

Sunlight streamed in through the gap, and a thin figure stood in the backlight.

It was Alarion.

He wore a black suit and held a bouquet of pure white balloon flowers.

That was the bouquet we had agreed I would carry on our wedding day.

Every eye in the room fixed on him. The guards from the Sanzaro family had already stepped forward halfway.

Alarion ignored all the other stares. He walked step by step to the end of the red carpet, his gaze locked tight on me, his eyes brimming with mad obsession and agony.

“Virelle, I’m late. I cleaned up everything about the Morvane family. Ismeria also paid for everything she did.

“This isn’t me trying to make you change your mind. It’s what I owed you—something I should have done a long time ago.”

He stood at the end of the red carpet, pressed the bouquet gently to his chest, and held it tightly.

“I know I don’t have the right to be here.

“But I couldn’t just watch you marry someone else without saying a word.

“Virelle, this bouquet… we agreed I’d bring it to you on your wedding

day. Just let me hand it to you, and I’ll leave.”

Dead silence fell over the church.

Tavion squeezed my hand, ready to step forward.

I patted the back of his hand gently to signal everything was fine.

I let go of Tavion and walked to stand in front of Alarion, looking him straight in the eye.

“Alarion, do you really think that as long as you paid the price, I have to forgive you?

“You’ve always been this selfish.

“The love you think you’re showing me is just a self-indulgent farce.”

I turned my head toward the priest.

“Father, please continue.”

I slipped my arm back through Tavion’s.

“I do.”

I looked into Tavion’s eyes and said those two words firmly.

The balloon flowers slipped from Alarion’s hands and scattered across the floor.

He bent slowly and picked up each fallen flower from the red carpet one by one.

He never lost his composure. But when he turned to leave after standing up back up, his lip was already bitten through and bleeding.

He watched me put on another man’s ring. He watched me kiss another man.

In that moment, he finally understood.

Some mistakes, once made, never get a second chance.

When Tavion and I walked out of the church, Alarion was still standing there.

He didn’t push for anything more.

He just stared blankly at my retreating back, and tears fell silently to the floor.

Later, I heard that Alarion never came back to London again.

Some people said there was a withered bouquet of balloon flowers in the drawer of his study, along with a postcard that was never mailed.

There was only one line on it.

[Virelle, is the weather nice in London today?]

But I knew. The Virelle who once only had eyes for him had died a long time ago, on that afternoon when the wedding was postponed.

The Virelle of today, Virelle Sanzaro, was the heir to the Sanzaro family, the wife of Tavion Valenwick.

And she was the only main character in the story of her own life.
