The Don’s Regret: His Obedient Donna Is the Lost Heiress! Chapter 05

Alarion stared at the “fail to send” notification on the screen, his brain going blank for a split second.

He thought he must have misseen, exited and clicked back in, then sent another question mark.

Still, only that cold notification stared back at him.

[Message not delivered.]

Alarion huffed lightly, set the phone down on the hallway bench without a second thought, the corner of his mouth lifting.

“Her temper’s getting worse.”

In his eyes, this was just another new trick Virelle was pulling to get attention.

What was the big deal about blocking him? Once she got home and cooled off, she’d definitely add him back obediently.

It had been seven years. When hadn’t she done this?

Every time after she threw a fit, all he had to do was hold her and say it wouldn’t happen again, then take her to her favorite sushi place, and she’d sigh and forgive him.

Seven years. She’d never really stayed mad at him for long.

“Don Morvane.”

Nico hurried over, holding a folder in his hand.

“Miss Veyra’s test results came back, all her vitals are normal.”

Alarion rubbed his forehead.

“Got it. Have someone stay here to watch her, I’m heading back to the office.”

When he got back to Morvane Holdings, Alarion headed for the vice president’s office out of habit.

“Virelle, about the development in the south…”

He pushed the door open, his voice cutting off abruptly.

The office was completely empty. The desk that had once been piled high with files was cleaned spotless.

So clean it looked like it had never belonged to her at all.

Alarion froze in the doorway, a panic rising in his chest.

“Nico.”

Nico scurried over nervously.

“Where are Virelle’s things?” Alarion gestured at the empty desk.

Nico swallowed hard.

“Don, Miss Sanzaro took all her personal belongings when she resigned last week.”

“Resigned? Took them?”

Alarion’s brow furrowed tightly. He turned and strode for the elevator, heading straight for the parking garage.

That restless itch finally sharpened into clear unease.

The Maybach tore down the streets, running two red lights in a row.

When he burst through the front door of the villa, Alarion didn’t even bother to take off his shoes, he just charged straight up to the second-floor bedroom.

When he pushed open the closet door, he froze completely.

The half of the wardrobe that had always belonged to Virelle was empty.

It wasn’t just clothes—her skincare, her jewelry box, even that pair of matching mugs she loved so much, they were all gone.

There wasn’t a single trace of her left anywhere in the whole house.

Alarion’s breathing quickened bit by bit. He wrenched out his phone and dialed Virelle’s number over and over.

“The number you have dialed is no longer in service.”

She didn’t just block him—she deactivated the number!

Alarion’s hand trembled slightly, and he immediately dialed the landline at the small town outside the city.

The phone rang for a long time before someone picked up.

“Hello? Who is this?”

A woman’s voice, cool and distant.

“Madam, this is Alarion.”

Alarion forced down the panic churning in his chest, trying to keep his voice steady.

“Is Virelle home yet?”

There was a few seconds of silence on the other end.

“Alarion? I’m sorry, you’ve got the wrong person.”

Alarion’s heart plummeted.

“What do you mean?”

“We’re not Virelle’s biological parents. We were just asked to look after her for a few years, all those years ago.”

The woman paused.

“She hasn’t come back. We don’t know where she went, and we wouldn’t dare ask.”

Alarion’s brain felt like it had been hit with a sledgehammer. His phone slipped out of his palm and thudded against the carpet.

He’d always thought every part of Virelle was under his control.

Her home, her job, her connections, every single place she could possibly go…

But now he realized—he knew absolutely nothing!

Just then, the butler’s voice came from the entrance.

“Sir, you have a delivery.”
