The Don’s Dead Bride Chapter 02

The Don’s Dead Bride Chapter 02

The door clicked open at midnight.

I was curled up in bed. My eyes opened.

Isabella Rossi. She was wearing a hospital gown over a designer slip dress, her makeup flawless.

Her high heels clicked against the floor. She didn’t look weak at all—nothing like the fragile woman Luca always described.

“Still awake, Elena?”

She stopped beside the bed and looked down at me.

“I heard you’re pregnant.”

I flinched. “Get out.”

She covered her mouth and laughed softly. “God, you’re a nasty little thing, aren’t you?”

“It doesn’t matter, though. Luca said it himself. If it meant saving me, he’d kill that bastard without thinking twice. Or you.”

She leaned down, her hot breath against my ear.

“Actually, the doctor said I don’t need the transplant right now… But I want yours.”

“And Luca said that even without sharing blood, just the thought of you makes him want to throw up.”

“Since you’re that disgusting, you might as well die doing something useful. Call it paying your debt.”

Cold flooded through my veins. My nails dug into my palms.

So that was it.

This wasn’t about saving her.

It was about humiliating me.

“What if I tell him the truth?” I hissed.

Isabella laughed—loud and mocking.

“Go ahead. See who he believes. A lying orphan or his dying fiancée.”

She pulled a small knife from her pocket and flicked it open.

“Just accept it, Elena.”

“The day the family took you in, you became a blood bag. Luca Romano’s dog.”

“I decide when you die.”

She raised the blade, aiming for my stomach.

I screamed and threw my arm up to block it.

“Ah!”

The scream wasn’t mine.

She shoved the knife into my hand, then threw herself backward, hitting the ground hard.

The door burst open.

Luca stormed in, rage pouring off him.

When he saw the scene in front of him, his eyes went dark.

“Elena! What the hell are you doing?!”

He didn’t wait for an answer. He kicked me in the ribs.

Pain exploded through my body. I tasted blood.

Isabella sobbed and threw herself into his arms.

“Luca, please… don’t blame Elena. She didn’t mean it… she’s just upset about the donation… she said she’d rather kill me than give me her marrow…”

Luca held her, staring at me like I was already dead.

“Good,” he said. “Yeah, that’s real good.”

“You want out of this so bad, Elena? Then we’re not waiting till morning.”

“We’re going to the clinic. Right now.”

“No anesthesia.”
